The new Monster Hunter Outlanders mobile game is finally set to be released. Developed by Capcom and Timi Studios (a part of Tencent), this will be the first Monster Hunter game for mobile phones since the release of the first one in 2004. Unlike the original titles, Outlanders will feature open-world survival and not just standard monster-hunting.

Monster Hunter Outlanders: Gameplay and release date

Outlanders is an open-world survival action RPG where you can roam an expansive, treacherous open world, hunting down monsters of varying sizes. That said, like other Monster Hunter games, you can hunt monsters and craft amazing weapons, armor, and new tools from their remains.

Hunting monsters will not be easy though, since there are multiple ecosystems to explore. All monsters thrive in their unique habitats, forcing you to understand them first and make plans to overcome their strengths and exploit their weaknesses. The best way to experience this game is by teaming up with up to three other friends for a fun co-op experience.

Outlanders also introduces several new survival gameplay mechanics – a first in this long-running series. While the developers haven’t revealed what new survival elements will be present, we expect it to be like a deadly weather system where you can freeze to death in cold places, along with some base-building elements seen in games like The Forest and Ark: Survival Evolved.

So far, a release date for Monster Hunter Outlanders has not been confirmed. However, we expect it to launch in all regions globally sometime in the first half of 2025. We recommend checking back here for further updates.
