Australian Grand Prix is the next stop on the Moto GP Calendar, and the race will take place at the legendary Phillip Island Circuit. Since 1997, Phillip Island has hosted every Australian Grand Prix, and is a real favourite among the riders.

The Phillip Island circuit has many medium to high-speed corners, which makes it one of the fastest tracks on the calendar. The flowing part of the circuit from turn 3 to turn 9 is a big hit among the riders, and the track has a lot of overtaking spots which adds to the fun.

Apart from the circuit, the breathtaking scenery and its beautiful ocean views make it one of the best tracks on the calendar. The track also has a classic feel to it, and over the years has seen many World Championships won and lost there.

In the Malaysian Grand Prix, Sandro Cortese wrapped up the Moto 3 World Championship. On the other hand, Marc Marquez failed to seal Moto 2 title after crashing out of the race.

In the Moto GP, Dani Pedrosa closed down the gap between himself and championship leader Jorge Lorenzo to 23 points, therefore making the prospect of a Pedrosa vs Lorenzo battle one to look forward to.

Ben Spies will not be taking part in the Australian Grand Prix due to the injuries sustained by him during his crash in Malaysia.

In other news, the organisers of the Phillip Island circuit have decided to name turn 3 after Casey Stoner, and five-time 500cc World Champion Mick Doohan will take to the Phillip Island circuit over the Grand Prix weekend at the end of October on a current specification Repsol Honda RC213V MotoGP machine.
