Just like his compatriot Marc Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo too was hugely successful right from the word go. Making his debut in the 125cc class in the year 2002 at the age of 15, Lorenzo quickly rose through the ranks. He was the 250cc Rider's champion in 2006 and 2007. He made his MotoGP debut in 2008 as a member of Team Yamaha. 8 successful years with Yamaha ensured that Lorenzo won the Riders' Championship thrice in 2010, 2012 and 2015.

Lorenzo ended his partnership with Team Yamaha and went on to sign for Team Ducati. Two frustrating seasons ensued where Lorenzo was not in title contention. He signed a 2-year contract with Team Repsol Honda in 2018. It would be fascinating to see the on-track battle between Lorenzo and teammate Marquez. Lorenzo has won an impressive 47 wins till date.
