Kyle Busch said that he would rejoin his former team Joe Gibbs Racing if he was welcomed back. Busch currently drives the #8 Chevrolet Camaro ZL 1 for Richard Childress Racing.
JGR's Martin Truex Jr. recently announced his retirement from full-time racing, claiming that he would end his career after the end of the 2024 season. Busch, who was part of JGR from 2008-2022, was asked whether he would return to his former team following Truex Jr.'s retirement.
The 39-year-old did not rule out a return, saying that he would do so if he was welcomed. He also said the same thing about going back to Hendrick Motorsports, where he drove from 2003-2007.
"I would say there's anything's possible always you know. Certainly, if I was welcomed I would go back. If Hendrick welcomed me back I would go back but right now I'm at RCR with my group of guys and um in in the deal that I have right now in place and so we're trying to work and build this program and make RCR great again," via FrontStretch [5:55-6:21]

Kevin Harvick: "I'm starting to feel sorry for Kyle Busch"

Kyle Busch hasn't had the best of Cup Series seasons in 2024. Apart from a runner-up finish at the Ambetter Health 400 in Atlanta and a fourth-place finish at the Wurth 400 in Dover, the 39-year-old has not managed a single top-5.
Things haven't been good lately for Busch. After his collision with Kyle Larson at the Enjoy Illinois 300, Busch entered the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway trailing by 20 points below the playoff cutoff line. Unfortunately, a less-than-stellar 12th-place finish left him 13 points behind Bubba Wallace, the final contender for a playoff spot. Following Kyle Busch's hapless race, Kevin Harvick expressed sympathy for the #8 driver.
"I'm starting to feel sorry for Kyle Busch because of everything that's happening. He wrecked last week with Kyle Larson at St. Louis, went to Indy for the tire test and crashed, and I heard some rumblings that he crashed his rental car. At the track, he ran off in practice, then again at the start of the race, and just when it seemed like he was going to have a good day and finally get over this mess, ‘wham,'" Harvick said during an interview with Fox News.
Kyle Busch is currently in 15th place in the 2024 Cup Series standings with 375 points. He is still the highest-ranked driver from Richard Childress Racing this season, with Austin Dillon in 31st spot with 211 points. The 39-year-old will next compete at the Iowa Corn 350, which will be the first Cup Series Race in the history of the Iowa Speedway.
