Jeffery Michael Gordon, popularly known as Jeff Gordon, is a four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and is the current Vice Chairman of Hendrick Motorsports. A successful driver during his time, Gordon, unfortunately, does not have his future generation lined up for racing. Yes, Gordon's son Leo Benjamin has been a junior racing driver but does not race professionally.
A NASCAR Hall of Famer, Gordon raced in the sport for nearly two-and-a-half decades. Given his popularity in stock car racing, it wouldn't have been a surprise if his son decided to follow in his footsteps. However, this was not the case, as Gordon Jr. does not seem to have enough interest in motorsports to become a racing driver.
Leo Benjamin Gordon is the youngest child of the former NASCAR driver, and his wife Ingrid Vandebosch. He was born on August 9, 2010, and is currently 14-years-old. His elder sister's name is Ella Sofia Gordon.
Like his sister, Leo Benjamin was born in New York, but they were both raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, the home of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, popularly known as NASCAR.
Having come from an incredible racing background, Leo Benjamin was introduced to racing at an early age. He learned to race in the quarter midgets at the age of seven.
Gordon, in 2017, shared a video from his official YouTube channel, which showcased his son driving a quarter midget car. In the video, the former NASCAR driver and his son both looked delighted as the latter tried his hand at driving laps for the first time.
Jeff Gordon's take on his son's interest in motorsports
Jeff Gordon, in one of his interviews with the Charlotte Observer podcast in November 2023, stated that his children have interests in things other than motorsports, and he is perfectly happy with it. He also said that he would support his children to achieve their individual goals or interests.
"They would go to the go-kart track and cheer it up every once in a while and I’m pretty proud of what they do out there but they don’t seem to have. Early when they were like five or six years old, I introduced him to quarter midgets, the same thing that I grew up racing that I was introduced to by my parents."
"But it (racing) didn’t seem to stick and they just have other interests and that’s fine. You know, I want to support them in whatever they’re passionate about, or whatever their interests are, that doesn’t seem to be racing."
Jeff Gordon competed in 805 races in over 25 years, and claimed four Cup Series Championships, 93 race wins, 81 pole positions, and 477 top 10s. He retired from NASCAR at the end of the 2016 season.
