Brad Keselowski's 10th-place finish last weekend at Michigan International Speedway was overshadowed by a controversial pit‑road speeding penalty that he questioned on social media.
Starting the FireKeepers Casino 400 from the 27th spot, Keselowski climbed to 21st by the end of the first stage , but that progress unravelled fast. An early pit stop to top off fuel pushed Keselowski further back. His comeback took another hit late in Stage 2 when NASCAR flagged him for speeding on pit road, which cost him a stop-and-go penalty and dropped him to 25th by Stage 2.
Replying to a fan comment on X, the No. RFK Racing driver and co-owner challenged NASCAR's data and shared that his onboard telemetry showed 59.4 mph in the pit lane.
"Still not sure how we got speeding penalty from Sunday. Our incar telemetry shows 59.4mph where NASCAR’s system showed 60.9mph," Brad Keselowski wrote.
Front Row Motorsports' Todd Gilliland, who also received a speeding penalty on lap 110, shared the same concerns. The No. 34 Ford driver, however, retired after suffering a flat tire later in the race.
"I got one right in front of you at the same time, by a lot … didn’t even think I was close," Gilliland wrote on the same thread.
"Reall weird deal," Keselowski replied.
Despite the penalty, Keselowski claimed a 10th‑place finish. Meanwhile, RFK Racing teammate Chris Buescher earned a runner‑up spot, and Ryan Preece crossed the line in ninth place.
"I'm really disappointed" - Brad Keselowski on missed top-5 finish at Michigan after unfortunate pit stall placement and penalty
Brad Keselowski's finish last Sunday (June 8) was his 16th career top‑10 at his home track of Michigan, but it was his second top‑10 finish of the 2025 season, following a fifth‑place finish last month at the Coca‑Cola 600 in Charlotte.
The 41‑year‑old reflected on his race and shared his disappointment with the pit stall placement between 23XI Racing's Tyler Reddick and Spire Motorsports' Michael McDowell. Keselowski also added that weak pit‑stall selection and questionable NASCAR readings cost him track position and momentum.
"We had a really good car. I felt like we had a top two or three car and just didn’t get to see it through. I’m really disappointed. We kind of crushed ourselves on pit road with the speeding penalty and then having to go around the 45 [Reddick] and the 71 [McDowell]. Every time we pitted we would lose a lot of spots," Brad Keselowski said. (via NASCAR.com)
Brad Keselowski continues to stand 32nd in the Cup points standings following Sunday's race. Since joining RFK Racing in 2022, he has registered only one win in the series, which came at Darlington last year.
