Chase Briscoe is still searching for his maiden win of the season with the newfound speed, which he hopes to do with his "least favorite car" setup by Joe Gibbs Racing for the race trim in the past three weeks. The former driver for Tony Stewart's now-defunct NASCAR team on Saturday, June 7, secured his fourth pole position and third in a row in his first season with the Toyota roster.
Briscoe, the No. 19 driver for the Joe Gibbs outfit, will lead the field to the green for the Firekeepers Casino 400 race at Michigan International Speedway. He qualified with a lap time of 36.826 seconds and had his best lap speed of 195.514 mph.
In a post-qualifying interaction with the media, Chase Briscoe opened up on his thoughts on turning things around on this third consecutive pole. He said (via Speedwaydigest):
"That's something that we haven't been able to do so far so yeah, I don't know. It's just been a lot of different things. Truthfully, like every week, it's just been something different. Sometimes it's me not doing my job on the race track or you know making a mistake on the restart or we've had bad pit stops. It's just been a multitude of things. I don't know, it's hard to pinpoint what we really need."
Briscoe further added,
Hopefully tomorrow will be that day. Truthfully, all three weeks, I would say this weekend has been the least favorite car I've had in race trim, but sometimes, that can be a good thing," concluded Chase Briscoe.
This impressive qualifying session by the two-time Cup race winner came after two eventful races at Charlotte Motor Speedway (May 25), where Briscoe finished third. He then again became the pole sitter at Nashville Superspeedway (June 1) but only managed a P17 finish. However, the 30-year-old Briscoe hasn't been able to capitalize on this as he remains winless after 14 races through the regular season, but he remains optimistic for a chance of success at the two-mile oval.
Chase Briscoe claims it to be a "big deal" to win at Michigan

Chase Briscoe replaced former NASCAR champion Martin Truex Jr. in the No. 19 ride for Joe Gibbs Racing. Since his transition from SHR, a Ford roster, to the Toyota machine this season, he has shown evident speed from the season-opening race, where the Indiana native secured a pole and finished in the top five.
As Briscoe enters the Michigan weekend, he shared why it is a big deal for Toyota as a manufacturer to have a victory lane celebration.
"I mean there's a lot of pride that comes in winning here in Michigan because of the manufacturer stuff that goes on up here in Detroit and stuff," Chase Briscoe said in a media availability.
"It's a big deal to win here from manufacturer standpoint. For us to come in here and be on the pole is obviously a big deal and we definitely want to get a Toyota in victory lane tomorrow," he added.
Fans can catch Chase Briscoe and Joe Gibbs Racing live in action on Amazon Prime on Sunday, June 8, at 2:00 p.m. ET.
