Chase Elliott competes full-time in the Cup Series, driving the #9 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. Over his decade-long career, Elliott has secured 19 Cup Series victories and captured the 2020 Cup Series championship. He also claimed the 2014 Xfinity Series title and was crowned the Cup Series regular-season champion in 2022, solidifying his status among NASCAR’s top drivers.

Kyle Larson started the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol on the front row, shared with HMS teammate Alex Bowman. In a dominating display of skill, Larson led 462 of 500 laps, more than any driver since Cale Yarborough in 1977. Following his win at Bristol, former champion and HMS teammate Elliott applauded the #5 driver for his performance in the final playoff race of the Round of 16(via PRN Live on X):

"I felt like our car was really, really good. Kyle did a better job than I did in traffic. That was the difference ... By the time I got there later, it was done. He did a great job," Elliot said.

Chase Elliott had an almost perfect night at Bristol Motor Speedway, as he secured P2 right behind Larson. Both HMS drivers have advanced to Round 12 of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

Elliott is currently in P7 in the driver standings with razor-thin margins from Denny Hamlin on P6 and Joey Logano on P8. Meanwhile, JGR driver Martin Truex Jr., who announced his retirement earlier this year got knocked out of the 2024 playoffs along with Ty Gibbs, Harrison Burton, and Brad Keselowski.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. credits Chase Elliott's composure in pressure-cooker scenarios

Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently revealed that sometimes his nerves get the best of him. While doing so, the veteran, who secured a top-ten finish in the Xfinity Series race at Bristol, commended Chase Elliott for his relaxed state of mind.

In a recent episode of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s Dirty Mo Media podcast on September 17, the former Xfinity Series champion outlined the differences between him and HMS's Chase Elliott, when the race becomes a mental battle. Earnhardt Jr. said:

"This is the difference in me and other other race car drivers. Some of us look at that and go, 'that's more pressure,' and others look at it and go 'that's opportunity.' Chase Elliott, he gets to Phoenix for his first finals - actually I think it's the year he won a championship. They interviewed him at the racetrack on Friday and he's standing by pit wall, and I'm sitting there in my mind thinking, 'Man, I'd be sweating bullets, I'd be so nervous,' Earnhartd Jr. said [at 07:46].
