Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s top-ranked Xfinity Series driver Justin Allgaier has opened up about the "hardest part" following his multiyear contract extension at JR Motorsports. The #7 Chevy driver will stay at the Mooresville-based outfit for at least until the 2026 season.

Allgaier is an Xfinity Series veteran and has been fielding the high-octane ride for JRM since the 2016 season. The 38-year-old is running his ninth year with Dale Jr. and his sister Kelley Earnhardt's owned team and announced recently his two-year contract extension.

The #7 Chevy driver is ranked atop the Xfinity Series rankings but is placed third in the playoffs, courtesy of AJ Allmendinger's Las Vegas win and Austin Hill's triumph at the most recent Homestead-Miami race. Despite netting an eighth-place finish, Allgaier's top spot in the leaderboard remains untouched thus far.

Following his Credit One NASCAR Amex Credit Card 300 race, Allgaier was asked about his feelings on having a fresh contract and still being in the title fight. Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s driver replied. (via Frontstrech)

"So far so good. It's hard, we've known kind of a couple of weeks now that the contract extension is done, but it's good to have that, it's good to talk about it. You know we just have to get to our job, I think that's the hardest part, we get caught up sometimes in the week to week, and I'm like, 'How do we do this well, how do we do this right?' You know, all those things"(2:31).

Allgaier suffered a blow at Homestead-Miami after scraping the wall on Lap 70. However, he didn't lose momentum and has kept himself in the Championship 4 race's contention.

"I'm enjoying what I do": Justin Allgaier on his multiyear contract extension

Ever since Allgaier stepped into the Xfinity Series, he has proved himself as a force to be reckoned with. He kicked off his NXS career with Penske Championship Racing in 2008, began his rookie season in 2009, and switched to Turner Motorsports before landing at Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s co-owned venture in 2016.

Since then, Allgaier has lent his expertise to the team, helping them clinch 22 wins, 122 top-5s, and 196 top-10s thus far. In 2023, the #7 Chevy driver punched his Championship 4 ticket by acing the Martinsville race and inched closer to bagging his maiden NASCAR title at the Phoenix Raceway. However, he lost the battle to Cole Custer, finishing 3rd.

Nonetheless, his consistent form through the years has safeguarded his seat at JRM. Ahead of his newly inked deal, Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s driver opened up, saying he never expected in his wildest dreams to be in NASCAR at age 40. He elaborated and said (via Bob Pockrass).

"I'll be 40 and I've kind of always said that 40 was my number I need to make a decision what I'm gonna do. To be honest with you, in my wildest dreams, I never really expected to get 40 in this sport and still have an opportunity to come to do this. So, when I have that opportunity now, I'm enjoying what I do and I still feel competitive."

It's worth mentioning that Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s driver never wrapped any of his Xfinity Series seasons outside of P7, which happened in 2018.
