Dale Jr.'s wife Amy Earnhardt reveals her first-ever celebrity crush

NASCAR icon Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s wife, Amy Earnhardt recently revealed that her first-ever celebrity crush was Dirty Dancing actor Patrick Swayze. The NASCAR Xfinity team owner and Amy, who have been married for over nine years, first crossed paths when Dale Jr., enlisted her firm to renovate his Mooresville, North Carolina, home in 2009.

On the latest episode of the Bless Your 'Hardt podcast, Amy answered a fan question about her first celebrity crush.

"My first celebrity crush, probably, Patrick Swayze," Amy said (55:32 onwards).

Amy, who is an interior designer graduate of the University of Kentucky, also explained how her crush came to be.

"I was obsessed with Dirty Dancing. Like, just love dancing in general. Like, I grew up in South Texas, and everybody two-steps and dances, and come from a dancing family, so that movie was just fun for me and always, like, dreamt of having a guy that would dance with me like that," she added.

Amy and Dale Earnhardt Jr. usually appear together on the podcast, but the NASCAR Cup analyst had to leave for this weekend’s race at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. The former driver signed a new multi-year contract with Amazon Prime Video and TNT this year after his departure from Fox Sports last season. Dale Jr.’s plans to reach Mexico were stalled after his planned flight was stuck in Singapore.

Sunday's Cup race (June 15) will be the first points event for the series outside the US. It is also the second last race on Amazon Prime’s broadcast schedule for this season.

Amy Earnhardt also recalled Dale Jr.'s celebrity crush was actor Diane Lane. During the same episode, Amy was struggling to remember one of her movies and said jokingly:

"He's going to get so annoyed with me." (56:22 onwards)

She also talked about the time they had the chance to meet her with actor Ben Affleck.

"He got to meet her in L.A. not that long ago. We were out there for something, and we got to meet Ben Affleck, who was also a crush of mine, and Diane Lane, on the same set. So, that was fun... She was super, super sweet, too. I always wonder, like, if you're going to meet a celebrity, if they're nice or not, and she was absolutely delightful," she added.

Amy and Dale Jr. got engaged in 2015 and got married the following year during a New Year’s Eve wedding ceremony at Childress Vineyards in North Carolina. The couple has since welcomed two daughters, Isla Rose in April 2018 and Nicole Lorraine in October 2020.
