Former Xfinity Series champion Daniel Suarez's wife, Julia Piquet, was seen repping her husband for his first-ever home race at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City. The 2025 NASCAR Viva Mexico 250 is scheduled for Sunday, June 15, 2025.
Julia Piquet has a long family history in motorsports. Her father was the three-time World Drivers' Championship titleholder in his Formula One career. Also, Piquet's sister, Kelley Piquet, is dating the four-time World Drivers' Championship holder, Max Verstappen. Julia tied the knot with Suarez during the Paris Olympics break last year.
The Viva Mexico 250 marks the 16th start of the season and the first international points-paying race since 1958. Following the excitement for the event, Daniel Suarez's wife donned a black jacket with her husband's name on it, with a Mexican-vibe skull with a helmet printed on the back.

Following the excitement of his first home race, the Trackhouse Racing driver will feature a new helmet for the 100-lap race. The new helmet represents Suarez's culture. Posting about it on social media, he said,
"This is the helmet I will be wearing for the NASCAR Mexico City weekend! A very special helmet designed by the great Mexican artist and friend Latapi Jorge. This helmet represents my culture, my country, and the warrior that is within all of us. It is a huge honor for me to be Mexican and be able to represent my home country and my fellow Mexicans. Let’s have a great weekend!"
Daniel Suarez had a good run in the first practice session at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on Friday and secured a P9 finish with a best time of 94.049 seconds. Following the same pace, he finished the second practice session in P12 with a lap time of 94.479 seconds.
"I'm going to come at you swinging": Daniel Suarez on competing in the Mexico race without his crew members
NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Suarez was featured in an interview with the Cup Series YouTube channel ahead of the main event and touched upon his frustration over missing his crew members for the 241.7-mile race.
The #99 Chevy Camaro ZL1 team has to borrow spotters from the Xfinity Series team for the practice session. Reflecting upon the same, the 33-year-old stated:
"One of my main mechanics is not here yet, all my engineers are not here yet. So definitely today we're limping a little bit but I love adversity. I love it, you put me against the wall and I'm going to come at you swinging." [12:25 onwards]
Daniel Suarez ranks 28th on the Cup Series points table with 254 points to his credit. He has secured three top-ten finishes and one top-five finish in 15 starts this season. Also, he has led 14 laps and has an average finish of 21.133.
