37 high-octane cars have locked their starting spot for the Wurth 400 and Kyle Busch has sealed his maiden pole start of the season and Richard Childress Racing's first since 1982. As the #8 Chevrolet driver gears up for the 11th Cup Series weekend, he shed some light on his noteworthy racing prowess.

Just a few hours are left for the 400-lap dash at the Dover Motor Speedway to kick off and the action-packed run across the 1.03-mile oval will be a sight to behold. Kyle Busch bagged the top speed of 162.191 mph during the qualifying run, dethroning 2023 Cup Series defending champion Ryan Blaney from the P1 spot. The Team Penske driver was the fastest among the pack until the RCR driver completed the Monster Mile 0.033 seconds faster.

Despite clinching his 34th career pole position, Busch was reminded that it's only his second pole in the NextGen car and was asked how he plans to race with all the huge tire wear happening at Dover. Hearing the question, the 38-year-old highlighted his ability to gel comfortably with the racecars, saying (via Frontstretch on X):

"I'm definitely one that gets into a rhythm and gets into a set with the racecar throughout the race and is able to make the most of the racecar with laps. I've definitely won more than double the amount of race than I do have poles."
"I wouldn't say that's a NextGen factor but definitely a little Kyle Busch factor in that as well," added Busch.

"This is our first test"- Kyle Busch after clinching first Dover pole for RCR after nearly 42 years

The North Carolina-based outfit has been in the NASCAR scene since its debut run in the 1969 Talladega 500 race and has amassed 16 championships and 200 race wins. However, the dominant team couldn't exercise their supremacy on Dover for 42 years, as neither of their drivers could bag a pole start at Dover since Ricky Rudd became the polesitter in 1982.

Nevertheless, the unwanted curse has ended, courtesy of Kyle Busch's blistering fast lap on the Monster Mile, where the #8 Chevy outperformed the likes of Ryan Blaney and William Byron.

Following his remarkable 34th pole spot, and ahead of his Dover run, the two-time Cup Series champion highlighted the situation as his team's "first test." He said:

"We're wanting to trend the right way and putting in the effort, putting in the hours, putting in all the extra work, and trying to figure out exactly what's going on and why. This is our first test of it. We felt like Dover and Kansas would be a really good test of some stuff. And hey, what do you know? It worked. So let's go."

Busch is currently 17th in the Drivers' Championship, accumulating 234 points so far, 125 behind top-spot holder Kyle Larson.
