Dale Earnhardt Jr. has learned an interesting fact about Buffalo wings, though the hard way. His Dale Jr. Download co-hosts jokingly blasted him for not knowing that Buffalo wings originated from Buffalo City in the state of New York.
Earnhardt Jr. is a 50-year-old professional stock car racing driver who last drove in the NASCAR Cup Series with Hendrick Motorsports. He recently returned to racing with the iconic Budweiser No. 8 car in a limited series of late model races.
In an ad on the latest episode of the Dale Jr. Download podcast, Earnhardt Jr. interrupted co-host and NASCAR spotter TJ Majors after the latter said he ate more buffalo wings than he did staying in his hometown in Buffalo, New York.
"Well, wait the **** a minute man. Are you insinuating since you're from Buffalo, or anyone from Buffalo, you're an eater of a lot of Buffalo things? You think Buffalo, the flavor Buffalo is a Buffalo the city thing? Is that what I just heard? Did y'all just hear that?"
Dale Jr. added:
"TJ, so you really think Buffalo came from the ******* city Buffalo?"
Amid the confusion, his co-hosts searched up Buffalo wings and found out that they had originated from the city of Buffalo in the 1960s.
In response, the Kannapolis native said:
"TJ, your value in this show has just now been realized."
This clip came from an ad from the latest podcast episode where Dale Earnhardt Jr. also talked about his late model race at Florence Motor Speedway. While he drove from 40th to 2nd, his race ended early after his No. 8 car's fuel pump failed.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. shares his thoughts on underwhelming qualifying performance at Florence
Following the underwhelming qualifying performance at Florence Motor Speedway that put him 40th in the starting order, Dale Earnhardt Jr. acknowledged being 'off his game' and 'lost' inside the car.
On the same podcast episode as above, the 26-time Cup race winner said:
"We went there knowing that qualifying's been a struggle for me. When I went out there to qualify, I had no idea how fast the car was through one and two. I felt like I did okay through there. It wasn't great, it didn't feel perfect. It didn't feel good but it wasn't bad."
Dale Jr. pointed out that he wasn't able to hit the rev limiter chip during the qualifying session. The chip was supposed to indicate that he had put down a good lap.
"We have a chip in the car. There's a chip for the rev limiter. I hit that on a good lap [...] And I'm coming up down the back straightaway and I'm waiting for that chip cause I'm wanting it to hit it cause that's going to be the sign that we're on a decent lap, right? And I never hit the chip," Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.
"That never happened [hitting the chip] and I panicked. And I thought this f****** lap is so slow [...] At this point, I am totally off my game... like I am lost." [0:49]
At the conclusion of the race, Dale Earnhardt Jr. settled with a DNF due to a fuel pump issue. Treyten Lapcevich took the victory at Florence Motor Speedway and went home with the $10,000 prize money.
