FOX Sports's Bob Pockrass has responded to why only the next playoff race, the NASCAR Straight Talk Wireless 400 will be broadcast on TV. Fans were unhappy about the lack of TV coverage for practice and qualifying sessions before the important playoff race at Homestead-Miami Speedway this Sunday.

Pockrass explained on social media that scheduling conflicts with other sports, especially football and baseball, are part of the problem. He also mentioned the lower attendance of the races in the past.

"NASCAR and broadcasters work on the schedules. Probably a mix of reasons with football/baseball schedules and getting to Homestead is really tough on Friday night b/c of traffic going to the Keys so Friday night races in the past have not produced a crowd," Pockrass wrote.

The practice and qualifying sessions would only be available on the NBC Sports App and NBC Sports website. Viewers would also need to log in through their cable or streaming providers on the app.

Many fans felt that not showing practice and qualifying was unfair and others pointed out that other sports do not have these issues.

“It’s the third-to-last race of the season, and we can’t even watch practice and qualifying on TV. There’s no buildup, no care by nbc, no hype, no point to watch,” one fan commented.
"Totally Ridiculous. No other sport does this in the playoffs," another wrote.

Viewers would also need to subscribe to MRN.com and SiriusXM for audio access to the pre-race sessions.

"Not a direction that I want to be a part of" - Tony Stewart on leaving NASCAR amid current "chaos"

Team owner and former driver Tony Stewart talked about leaving the sport on Kevin Harvick's "Happy Hour" podcast.

Stewart shared his thoughts on NASCAR's current direction and why he is stepping away.

"This is a time where things are drastically changing in the sport. You look at what's going with 23XI and Front Row Motorsports right now and their battle with NASCAR and the direction that things are going, it's not a direction that I want to be a part of," Stewart said.

Stewart explained that his reasons for leaving NASCAR changed as he watched the problems unfold. Two teams, 23XI and Front Row Motorsports filed an anti-trust lawsuit against the governing body earlier this month for reportedly engaging in monopolistic practices, among other reasons.

"Like I said, it wasn't that way at the beginning of the year, we had different reasons for why we had to shut down at the end of the season. As time's gone on and watching the owners and NASCAR fight and just the chaos that's going on over there, I'm fine being done with this at the end of the year," he added.

Stewart-Haas Racing will end its operations after this season and make way for the new Haas Factory Team.
