Dale Earnhardt Jr. recently took to social media to look back on his engagement to wife Amy. In a tweet shared with his followers on X, the NASCAR veteran celebrated the anniversary of proposing to his wife, Amy Earnhardt, calling it the "best decision ever."

The tweet was shared on June 17. This year marks ten years since Dale Earnhardt Jr. got engaged to Amy Reimann during a trip to Germany. In the tweet, Dale Earnhardt Jr. wrote,

“Today I asked Amy to marry me back in 2015. Best decision ever.”

Following the proposal in 2015, the couple got married on December 31, 2016. The proposal came as a surprise to Amy. She shared a photo after the moment with the caption:

“I'm completely overwhelmed with love & joy. Happiest girl in the world! I love you so much @DaleJr.”

The couple first met in 2009 when Dale Earnhardt Jr. hired Amy’s interior design firm to work on his home in Mooresville, North Carolina. Their relationship started as a professional collaboration but developed as time went on. They made their first public appearance together at a NASCAR event in 2011.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. proposed six years after they started dating and the timing was intentional. Back in early 2015, he had avoided confirming engagement plans on public platforms like the Dan Patrick Show, as he didn’t want to spoil the surprise.

Earnhardt Jr. explained later that he had been planning the proposal for months. He waited until they visited a 1,000-year-old church in the town of Speyer, where his ancestors had been baptized and married.

After getting engaged in June 2015, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Amy got married at Childress Vineyards in Lexington, N.C. on New Year’s Eve, 2016. The venue belonged to Richard Childress. Since then, the couple has had two daughters—Isla, born in 2018, and Nicole, born in 2020.

Today, the couple not only shares a family but also works together on business ventures, like High Rock Vodka, launched in 2022. Their collaboration also came to life on the TV, with a short reality series in 2018 that featured them restoring a house together.

On a recent episode of the Bless Your 'Hardt podcast, Amy Earnhardt shared a personal story from her younger days. Answering a fan’s question about her first celebrity crush, Amy named Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze as the one who stood out to her as a kid.

Amy explained how her admiration for Swayze grew from of her love for dance. She said,

“I was obsessed with Dirty Dancing. Like, just love dancing in general. Like, I grew up in South Texas, and everybody two-steps and dances, and come from a dancing family, so that movie was just fun for me and always, like, dreamt of having a guy that would dance with me like that.” (55:32 onwards).

While Amy was on the podcast solo this time, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was traveling to Mexico City for the NASCAR Cup Series race. The former driver recently signed a new deal with Amazon Prime Video and TNT after leaving Fox Sports, and is continuing to stay active in the sport as an analyst and team owner.
