#1 Chevrolet driver Sam Mayer was seen ringing the bell at JR Motorsports's race shop in a social media post earlier. The post was captioned "One ring closer to Phoenix." The team has had a very successful season so far, and with Justin Allgaier leading the playoffs, they seem to be on the right path to clinching their first championship since the 2018 season. Following Mayer's Charlotte win, Earnhardt Jr. offered words of appreciation and encouragement to the team.

JR Motorsports currently has four drivers running in the Xfinity Series championship, piloting the #1, #7, #8, and #9 Chevys. Three of their drivers, Sam Mayer, Justin Allgaier, and Sammy Smith qualified for the playoffs and have been racing competitively. The team has secured six wins this season, including back-to-back victories at Talladega and Charlotte.

With four races to go in the season, Dale Earnhardt Jr's JR Motorsports looks in good shape to challenge their competitors for the title. Sam Mayer, their most recent winner, sounded particularly optimistic about their position in the championship.

Speaking to the crew in the race shop alongside Earnhardt Jr, the 21-year-old mentioned that the "job is not done yet," but also assured them by saying that they have three shots at the title.

"Huge thanks to each and everyone of you in this shop to have the opportunity to go out there and now race for a championship or at least one step closer. Super cool. The job's not done yet. We got four more races to go out there and hopefully win [the] championship at the end of the year, we got three shots at it. So we're going to use it up," he said.

Now in his third season with JR Motorsports, Mayer has consistently improved. After a consistent showing in 2022, he won four races last year and finished third overall. Currently, he's fifth in the playoffs, eight points behind the top four.
