NASCAR Cup Series racer William Byron will be looking at securing his berth for the 2024 Championship 4 during the upcoming race weekend at Martinsville. During a SiriusXM NASCAR Radio podcast appearance, the Hendrick Motorsports star shared his opinion on Homestead Miami as a possible championship race venue.

Byron was the first driver to secure his place in the 2024 playoffs by winning the iconic Daytona 500 race on February 19. Apart from Daytona, the Charlotte-born racer won the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix and Cook Out 400 races at Austin and Martinsville, respectively. Despite a strong regular season, the HMS driver is facing elimination ahead of the final Round of 8 race.

During the SiriusXM NASCAR Radio podcast, the #24 driver shared his opinion on why Homestead Miami is a better venue for the Cup Series finale than Phoenix.

"It (Homestead Miami) should be the championship race. There's really no doubt about it. The racing it puts on, the venue, obviously, from a fan standpoint, we've got to get more people out to the racetrack to get in there because it didn't have as good of a crowd as I would have hoped to see, but I think if you put it back in the championship race and maybe a few upgrades here and there, it's going to be a great show," William Byron explained (0:00 onward).
"I just think Homestead is an awesome venue. I love going down there. It just has a different vibe to it when you get, especially this time of year and the importance of it. So I would love to see that place be our championship and it just puts on an amazing race," he added (0:55 onward).

Byron's opinion was also shared on X on SiriusXM NASCAR's official page. Here's a look at the post, captioned:

“We weren’t good enough" - HMS star William Byron expresses disappointment despite Top-10 finish at Homestead Miami

After qualifying 25th for the Straight Talk Wireless 400 race, NASCAR driver William Byron managed a Top-10 finish at Homestead Miami. Despite ending the race in sixth place, the Hendrick Motorsports racer expressed disappointment during a post-race media interaction.

"We weren’t good enough (at Homestead Miami). A sixth-place finish is good, but we just have to go to Martinsville and compete for a win," William Byron said.

Although the North Carolina-based driver is second in the NASCAR standings, he is yet to secure his berth for the Championship 4 finale at Phoenix. He is just seven points above the cut-off mark and is ahead of his teammates Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott (both are in the elimination bubble).
