Joey Logano recently revealed his pre-season plan to give out cash bonuses to the #22 Ford crew members at the end of the year. The Team Penske driver clinched his third Cup Series championship this 2024 NASCAR season.
In a conversation with former driver Kenny Wallace, $24 million worth (according to Celebrity Net Worth) Logano discussed how the crew members would be compensated based on the 'things to hit' in a chart devised by the ace Penske driver.
The 34-year-old Logano also revealed if they win the championship he would give out a bonus of $200,000. As a matter of fact, the Ford driver lifted his third title and claimed to compensate the crew in a flamboyant manner. He said:
"So we won and I'm like, 'Oh boy, I don't know where to get this kind of money.' I brought up into the room and got everybody in the conference room. And I got a duffle bag full of 200K and I just dumped it out. And said, 'I always wanted to do this,'. And just started throwing money around."
"It was badass. It was so great. Those are the moments that like, that's so cool to celebrate with everybody. Everyone had that together. It's awesome," Logano added.
Before winning the championship title, Logano wasn't considered one of the favorites to lift the coveted trophy. The #22 driver only secured a single win in the regular season, but showed his speed as NASCAR transitioned into the playoff rounds.
"Everything went right at the end": Joey Logano reflects on his 2024 NASCAR season
Joey Logano struggled for the better part of the 2024 season, having finished inside the top five twice until his first win in the 18th race of the season at Nashville Superspeedway.
Moreover, he initially fell out of contention after the Round of 12. But Alex Bowman's DQ due to a post-race inspection at Charlotte ROVAL opened up the opportunity for the Connecticut native to chase his third championship title.
Speaking with SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Penske driver Logano opened up on his championship year and said:
"I feel like did the best this year was we took advantage of every opportunity that came our way. And I know opportunities are hard to come by and not everybody gets the opportunities, it's just as hard to take advantage of an opportunity when it's sitting in front of you. Are you ready when the thing is staring at you in the face to take advantage of that?" [0:25]
"It seemed like just everything went right at the end of the year and it is so crazy to me because everything went wrong in the first half. And the last four races, we couldn't do anything wrong... like you can't draw that up any better, just everything went perfect," Joey Logano said.
Meanwhile, Ryan Blaney, Joey Logano's teammate. finished runner-up in the final drivers' standings and Austin Cindric ended the year in P11.
