In his recent start at Homestead-Miami, Jones began from P23, positioned on the 12th row alongside Matt Mills, the #42 driver for Niece Motorsports. However, on lap 76 at Homestead, Jones bumped into the back of Matt Mills' #42 truck, sending him into the wall and ending his race.

Ahead of the Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway, Jones spoke with Frontstretch's NASCAR journalist Bryan Nolen, where he further extended his views on the incident at Homestead.

"First off, I would just like to apologize to all them Niece(Motorsports) guys and all my guys for my actions and NASCAR. Just learn to try and not to let your temper get a hold of you. That's the biggest key part about it, which I did and I'll be first one and admit it. But I will say this too, it was never my intention to go down that corner and wreck him, it was just my intention to give him back what he gave me," Jones said.

"But yeah, I apologize, I didn't mean to wreck him or put him in the hospital or anything like that. But he's got to put that behind us and keep on digging for today. I think we have a really good Lung Cancer Awareness Ford F-150 provided me by Thor Sport Racing and yeah, I'm looking forward to getting to the race here at 6 o'clock night," he added.

The incident caused Mills to travel to a hospital and eventually spend the night there. However, Jones immediately released a statement, publicly apologizing to the #42 driver, and wishing him a speedy recovery.

Meanwhile, as he returns to the track after missing out on Martinsville, Conner Jones will start the Championship Race from P13 while Mills will start the race from P28.

Speaking with Fox Sports' renowned NASCAR journalist Bob Pockrass, the #42 Truck Series driver(via X, formerly Twitter):

“He has reached out through text and trying to call me. It’s been such a hectic week, just physically and mentally. It was exhausting just being in the hospital with my son, but just getting back to reality and feeling normal again. That was a lot to process itself, and it’s been a hectic week just getting my safety gear, stuff like that, all replaced," Mills said (0:40 onwards).

"So he has reached out, but being how it’s recent and how hectic the week was just in all scenarios, I don’t feel like I could have a healthy conversation with him," he added.

Catch Conner Jones and Mills in the Truck Series Championship 4 race at Phoenix Raceway, scheduled to start on Friday, November 8 at PM ET.
