Former NASCAR driver Kurt Busch was out of action after his license was suspended following his arrest for DWI a few months ago. However, he recently shared a clip of himself hitting back on the track alongside popular celebrity driver Ronnie Mund.
In the clip, Busch called Mund his driver coach as the two prepared to put in a few laps. While he did not spare much details in the short clip on social media, he said:
"Alright, I don't know what I got myself into, but it's about time we get back on track. I figured I'd hire the best driver's coach to get me going again."
Kurt Busch joined the Denny Hamlin co-owned 23XI Racing team in 2022, driving the #45 Toyota. He remained competitive, scoring a victory and seven top-10 finishes in just the first 21 rounds of the season. However, he took a step back following a huge crash in Pocono during the qualifying session.
Busch has remained out of the Cup Series since but he recently hinted about returning to race in his statement after pleading guilty to DWI. He was given a year's probation following the incident as his alcohol levels while driving turned out to be almost double the permissible limit.
Kurt Busch's hint towards returning to racing in the future
A few months ago, Kurt Busch was spotted overspeeding while driving in North Carolina. Reports claimed that he was speeding 18mph over the limit in his Lexus. After the cops pulled him over, he was found to be driving while intoxicated with alcohol levels more than double the permissible limit. The limit is 0.7% and his report is said to be around 0.17%.
As a result, he was arrested immediately and later pleaded guilty in court. Following this, he released an apologetic statement accepting that he was driving while intoxicated (DWI). In the statement, however, he also hinted about a potential return to racing in the future.
"I take full responsibility for my recent DWI arrest and deeply regret my actions. I voluntarily completed a pre-trial assessment and followed all recommendations ahead of my court date. I'm committed to making amends, ensuring this never happens again, and returning to racing with a renewed focus. Thank you to everyone who has supported me," Busch's statement read (via Newsweek).
Kurt Busch was given a 60-day suspension for a complete year, also putting him under unsupervised probation. The 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion was seen in action for the first time since then in the recent clip with Ronnie Mund, though he was not driving.
