Amy Earnhardt shared her thoughts on her husband's reunion with the iconic No. 8 Budweiser at the South Carolina 400 race. After 17 years, Dale Earnharrdt Jr. partnered with the beer company for the Late Model Stock Car race at Florence Motor Speedway.
In an Instagram post, the NASCAR Hall of Famer's wife posted pictures with her daughters and Dale Jr. before the race started. The Earnhardt family was spotted donning the nostalgic red-white colors of the #8 Budweiser. However, the 42-year-old Amy admitted to falling asleep and missing the race as a result.
She did, however, hear the two-time Daytona 500 winner put on a strong performance before a mechanical problem with 31 laps to go forced him out of contention from second place.
"What a fun night! I heard the 8 was bad fast. I fell asleep putting the girls down and missed the whole thing," captioned Amy on Instagram.
Junior's race ended prematurely because of a fuel pump issue. The 50-year-old started from the back of the field and became the closest competitor to the eventual race winner.

"We've gotta go and do something cool": Dale Earnhardt Jr. on driving through the field with No. 8 Budweiser
Former Cup Series driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. believed it to be a 'ton of pressure' after a disappointing qualifying result at the Late Model Stock car race at Florence Motor Speedway. However, he maneuvered his way to the second spot before falling out of contention in the second half of the event.
In a post-race media interaction, the Kannapolis, North Carolina native reflected on the significance of driving in front of the sellout crowd on the short track. He said:
"Just like me everybody's pretty probably disappointed with the qualifying effort and having to start in the back of the field but to be able to drive through the field like that was probably a lot of fun for folks to watch. And, you know, when you put something like this together, it's a ton of pressure... When you get here and you're at the racetrack, you're like, there's a lot of people here that are really excited about this, and now we've gotta go out there and do something cool." [7:49]
Dale Earnhardt Jr. was last seen behind the red-white #8 livery in 2007 before transitioning from Dale Earnhardt Inc. to Hendrick Motorsports in the Cup Series. This reunion gave fans and the NASCAR community a nostalgic touch at the 250-lap race.
