Ty Gibbs appeared in a recent Dirty Mo Media interview with Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic. During their conversation, Gluck was curious about the Joe Gibbs Racing driver's playlist as a lot of the latter's posts on social media are captioned with raps.
Gibbs revealed that he likes a wide variety of music that is not limited to just rap songs. The 21-year-old speedster said that he has different kinds of playlists, from rap and chill music to country and old rock numbers.
"I have a lot of different playlists," Gibbs said. "I mean, I've got a country playlist, and I've got a rap playlist, and then I've got a chill playlist, and I've got old rock and old country and Elvis to Drake to Drizzy."
"I listened to Elvis for a little bit too (much)," added Gibbs while speaking of his love for the 'King of Rock and Roll'. "Elvis, Lil Baby, Jason Aldean, I got it all."
Gibbs is in his second full season in the Cup Series. After clinching the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship in 2022, he joined the Toyota team in 2023 for his debut season as a Cup Series full-timer.
Gibbs currently drives the No. 54 Monster Energy JGR Camry in the Cup Series. This year, Gibbs, a resident of Charlotte, NC, made the playoffs for the first time in his Cup Series career. He sits just ahead of his teammate and 2017 Cup Series champion Martin Truex Jr. in the playoff picture.
Ty Gibbs to land a new sponsor at Watkins Glen
CW has tied up with the No. 54 JGR team for the September 15 race, i.e., the Go Bowling at the Glen at Watkins Glen International. CW will air the final eight Xfinity Series races of the 2024 season.
Ty Gibbs will flaunt the CW colors in the Cup Series while Sheldon Creed will do the same in next week's Xfinity Series Focused Health 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
"We’re honored to help usher in a new era of the Xfinity Series with The CW," Steve de Souza, Executive Vice President of Xfinity Series and Development for JGR, said in a recent statement (via Jayski) "We’re looking forward to assisting our great fanbase in making the transition to our new partners at The CW."
"There’s no shortage of compelling storylines and great racing in our series and we’re all looking forward to the enthusiastic and dedicated coverage that our new partners will bring to every race," de Souza added.
CW also holds the rights to broadcast every Xfinity race, practice, and qualifying session starting from 2025 through 2031. CW's NASCAR stint this year begins with the Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 20th. Fans can tune in to CW at 7:30 PM ET to watch the 300-lap event live.
