Joey Logano recently addressed Tony Stewart's 'silver spoon' remark on him for climbing up the ranks quite early in his racing career. Team Penske's Logano and the Stewart are now tied with three Cup Series championships under their belt.

In a recent media interaction at the NASCAR banquet, Logano was asked about "his sense of pride" after tying the record with NASCAR Hall of Famer Stewart. To this, the 34-year-old highlighted the struggles of racing irrespective of coming from an affluent background.

"Yeah, there's a little pride there because it didn't go as well as I wanted to and, you know, there's a lot of struggles there to even be racing. So, yeah, it was a lot of pride there," Logano said. [9:20]

Furthermore, the Connecticut native admitted to joking with his father after clinching his third championship and said:

"I did make a joke to my dad afterwards, you know, the silver spoon comment[By Tony Stewart on Logano], you know, and that always pissed me off which is what he[Tony Stewart] was trying to do. He did a good job at it but kind of feels cool that the Silver Spoon has got three championships like he does now. I kind of like that."

Logano once in an interview, revealed Stewart-Haas Racing co-owner Stewart nicknamed him "Spoons" for apparently being a rich kid who never had to work a day in his life.

"I can't help what I was born into,": Joey Logano once elaborated on Tony Stewart nicknaming him 'Spoons'

During an interview with Graham Bensinger, Joey Logano opened up on his relationship with former Cup Series driver Tony Stewart and didn't shy away from calling Stewart's future kids having "silver spoons."

In the 2023 interview, the #22 Ford driver Logano said:

"Yeah, he[Tony Stewart] called me Silver Spoon, right? And so he just called me spoons forever. He texted me the other day and said, ‘Hey spoons.'" [1:37]

Logano then added:

"Hey listen, when Tony Stewart has a kid, guess what, he gets silver spoon, right? Sorry. Tony made a lot of money driving a race car."

Furthermore, the Penske driver defended his stance for being allowed to pursue his dream after being brought up in a rich household. He said:

"So I can't help what I was born into. I'm sorry like, what am I supposed to do I had a great opportunity to chase my dream, my dream was to drive a race car. My dad helped me a lot with that but, eventually, like I had to do the work but I did come in as the cocky, arrogant, know-it-all 18-year-old kid." [1:59]

Reportedly, Logano's father, Tom Logano, sold a large part of his business to fund the Team Penske star in his early racing career days. As a result, Logano made his Cup Series debut at 18 which is quite early for any modern-day drivers in NASCAR's premier division.
