Allgaier highlighted the good times with his former crew chief. The duo started working together in 2016. Burdett's personality was the complete opposite of Allgaier's. He used to hang low and keep to himself while Allgaier was an extrovert.

Justin Allgaier had his most consistent season in 2016 after paring up with Burdett. He secured a career-high 27 top-10 finishes in the season and recorded his most wins with Burdett, more than any other crew chief. Answering his former crew chief, the 38-year-old threw a friendly jab at Burdett in a video shared on X.

"Jason I have won the most races with you, so I'll give you credit on that one, but I can't pick one. Honestly, I've had some really cool people in my life that have crew chief for me, although Pohlman did win a championship with me, and we never got to do that with you. So, I don't know; we'll see what happens," Allgaier said. [00:26]

Justin Allgaier is inspired by Denny Hamlin and Mark Martin to "keep digging" until he wins a NASCAR championship

Justin Allgaier is fighting for his maiden NASCAR Xfinity Series championship this year. Despite his solid performance over the last 13 years, he has not been able to secure a title. In an interview with Davey Segal, the 38-year-old compared his time in the Xfinity Series to Denny Hamlin's time in the NASCAR Cup Series, and weighed in on his dedication to winning a title till he is allowed to race.

The JR Motorsports driver began his career in 2005 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and transitioned to the Xfinity Series in 2009. He started racing for Penske Championship Racing and joined JR Motorsports in 2016. Allgaier was the runner-up in the championship title in 2020 and 2023.

Reflecting on his close calls in winning the championship, Justin Allgaier said (via Davey Segal on X):

"The only reason I would want to win one is kind of that closure of like- you finally got it right. And that's a great story. No different than any. I know Denny would It eats him up to not have the closure of ‘we did everything right; it worked, right?’ Now that being said. Denny will go down as one of the best drivers in this generation regardless."

He added:

"No matter what happens when the last time you jump behind the wheel of a race car, you're gonna know that you left everything on the table when you even 100% every time you went into the race track. And none of us would be okay with walking out of the pit area knowing that we didn't give it 100%. And if it's not meant to be on that given day, then... You know, I'm gonna keep... I'm gonna keep digging until... I can't."
