NASCAR driver Ryan Preece made his debut in the sport in the Xfinity Series in the 2013 CNBC Prime's "The Profit" 200 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, piloting the #8 Chevrolet Camaro for Tommy Baldwin Racing. In a career spanning 7 years, the Connecticut native has secured 7 race wins across NASCAR's top divisions.
NASCAR fans have witnessed Preece piloting the #41 Ford for Stewart Haas Racing, however, the 33-year-old also has two Ford cars in his personal garage. Unlike other drivers, he does not have a massive car collection; rather, he prefers having two project cars, which he showcases on his social media.
Here's a look at Ryan Preece's car collection
#1 Ford Mustang GT(2014)
The first project car owned by SHR's #41 driver is a 2014 Ford Mustang, which he bought after his debut in NASCAR. The car boasts a 3.7L V-6 engine, 305 horsepower, 280 lb-ft of torque, a 6-speed manual transmission with rear-wheel drive. In an interview with alt_driver, Preece shed light on his first automobile purchase.
"The story behind it is when I won the championship in 2013 for the regional series that I was racing (NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour)," Preece said. "Well, being 22 years old, I decided I was going to buy a new car. And that new car was a Mustang."
Here's a video via Redline Reviews on YouTube that breaks down the build of the car in detail.
A few years after he purchased his Mustang, Preece landed his first Cup Series contract, which prompted the #41 driver to completely customize his ride. In the same interview, Preece explained the specifics of his customization.
"I pulled the motor out, basically stripped this entire car down to what was essentially just a shell," Preece explained. "Had a motor built out in California, put a twin-turbo kit on it, a standalone aftermarket ECU system -- FuelTech, which a lot of drag racers use."
"Took three years to do this, and then finally got it done, brought it to a buddy in Connecticut's dyno, and we made a little over 1,100 horsepower with it. So it was fun." he added
#2 2017 Ford F-150
Ryan Preece's second purchase was a 2017 Ford F-150, which he said was inspired by the appearance of the car in "The Fast and The Furious" movie series.
The vehicle boasts a turbocharged 3.5L V-6 engine, with the new 10-speed automatic transmission. The Ford F-150 that Preece bought was a secondhand purchase, the truck initially being used for clearing out driveways and from the Connecticut snow.
Following his purchase, Preece shared his thoughts on the truck. He said,
"That's honestly what drove my whole passion for my F-150," Preece said. "I love lowered, single-cab -- I don't want to say short bed -- but like short bed trucks. They look beautiful. I feel like they just look so aggressive right now when you lower them and get rid of that wheel gap. That looks pretty sporty."
The 33-year-old went on to customize the F-150 in a similar manner to his Mustang GT, tailoring both vehicles to reflect his unique style and preferences.
