Kyle Busch was seen at a restaurant recently with his family. However, the spotlight was on his nine-year-old son, Brexton, who was challenged by his father to hold a spoon full of horseradish in his mouth for a whole minute.
The rules of the challenge were simple. Brexton was not allowed to gulp it down. Rather, he was asked to rub it through the roof of his mouth. On completion of the challenge, Brexton would receive a $100 bill.
Like father, like son. Brexton was not going to shy away from an honest challenge. He held a dollop of horseradish inside his mouth as Busch cheered,
“Rub it, rub it with your tongue, rub it through the roof of your mouth! Do it! Do it!”
Soon, the little guy’s eyes started watering. He started thumping his father’s arms as hard as he could just to tolerate the heat. While Kyle Busch’s wife Samantha recorded the video, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion asked,
“Is it hot? Are your eyes watering? Is your nose running?”
It was hot indeed. But Brexton is a chip off the old block. He managed to hold it in for 60 seconds. Busch, too, handed Brexton the promised prize money.
Kyle Busch reveals Brexton’s NASCAR future
At 9 years of age, Brexton is already going out there and winning races. As per reports (via myracepass.com), the budding speedster has won more than 30 races at 13 different racetracks across 11 states in 2022. That year, he also won the Mountain Creek Speedway Beginner Box Stock championship.
The following year, Brexton amassed more than 30 wins driving Outlaw Karts, Bandoleros, Jr. Sprints, and Restricted Micros. Needless to say, he has a bright future ahead of him as a race car driver. But what does Kyle Busch think of his son’s career?
"A lot of different things can happen. That's what we've actually been looking at," Kyle Busch told The Athletic. “He races in junior sprints and micros and Bandoleros and stuff like that now. When he turns 10, he can run Legend cars … so we'll add that in next May. And then at 12, you're allowed to run the CARS Tour Pro Late Models. So he'll probably get into some of that at 12."
According to Busch, Brexton is yet to get the hang of road courses. Reflecting on the same, the Richard Childress Racing driver added,
"I don't feel like he's got enough road course stuff yet. So we need to do some karting, and we're going to do some of that this offseason and work with Greg Ives and Max Papis and some of those guys who have done a lot already with their kids. There's a road racing series, Trans Am TA2, and he'll probably get into some of that at 14."
As of now, both Brexton and his father are busy enjoying their time away from the racetrack. Meanwhile, NASCAR prepares for the 2025 season opener, i.e., the Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium which is scheduled for February 2.
