23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace is one of the few NASCAR Cup Series drivers this weekend on double duty. He is participating in both the Cup Series as well as the Craftsman Truck Series races at North Wilkesboro Speedway. Wallace will be seen preparing for a better shot at qualifying for the All-Star Race on Sunday.

Bubba Wallace finished fifth after a late-race battle with fellow Cup Series driver Kyle Larson. However, he was greeted with boos as he got out of his #1 Toyota Tundra TRD at the 0.625-mile-long track.

It has been an up-and-down career in terms of popularity with the fans for Wallace. The Mobile, Alabama driver has learned to embrace the positive stuff on and off the track, as well as the criticism that comes with it.

Opinions vary about the #23 Toyota Camry TRD driver the more you ask fans about him. The 29-year-old has some die-hard fans, whereas some do not like him, and that is putting it mildly.

Speaking his mind on the boos he received in North Wilkesboro, Bubba Wallace was his usual witty self in a post-race interview. He said:

"It's every week. It's sports, it's always going to be there. You're really close to the stage, it does make a difference, it's gonna be there every weekend."

Elaborating further on how the booing from the crows made him feel, Wallace said:

"As long as you continue to live your life judging a book by it's cover, that's who you are. Don't change it up for anybody else. That's the biggest thing. I finished 5th, I got a good payday, I'm good."

Bubba Wallace elaborates on NASCAR Truck Series race at North Wilkesboro

Bubba Wallace drove the #1 Toyota Tundra TRD during the NASCAR Crafstman Truck Series race at the resurrected North Wilkesboro Speedway this weekend. He looked like in contention for the win at the 0.625-mile-long track. The Alabama native was seen leading the race late into the final stage with worn-out tires when Hendrick Motorsports' Kyle Larson passed him for the lead.

Wallace elaborated on what was a good day despite him finishing in P5 and said:

"All in all, good day. Just frustrating, last weekend we could've won the race, this weekend It would've been fun to battle more with (Kyle) Larson, but we'll see."

North Wilkesboro Speedway is all set to host the All Star Race this Sunday, May 21, 2023, going live on FOX Sports at 8:00 pm ET.
