During lap 267, Hamlin and Blaney were going neck to neck to secure a win. But suddenly the 23XI racing driver came in full speed and entered between the #11 and #12 cars. Hamlin highlighted that the track didn't have a lot of grip, so he slowed down to avoid any potential wreck due to Reddick's aggressive driving.

"So I slow down to keep from, keep an ability for me to maneuver when these two get together, because I was very surprised they didn't come off the corner, side by side, door banging. But the 45 just had so much speed. He ripped the door numbers off the 12," explained Denny Hamlin. [00:27]

Continuing further, the interviewer asked the Joe Gibbs driver if Blaney could have blocked the lane with a slide move. He replied:

"He could but he was racing him fair, right? He didn't the 45 didn't do anything to, you know, garnish getting shoved in the fence. But I mean, hey, we're all going for the win, and you never know what can happen. And I think the 12 race them as absolute fair as he could. And certainly the 45 got there so quickly it would have been too late to try to shut that off. So I think the 12 was just content on Let me try to run the best speed I can in the lane that I've chosen." [00:55]

Top Cup Series drivers face pressure ahead of the 2024 Martinsville race this week, including Denny Hamlin

NASCAR is in the final stage of the playoffs, and only one race of the round of eight is left to secure a spot for the Championship 4 at Phoneix Raceway. Only four drivers will race for the championship title, and Denny Hamlin has yet to secure his spot in the top four.

After the Homestead-Miami win, Tyler Reddick joined Joey Logano in the list of drivers who punched their ticket for the final round. Denny Hamlin's teammate Christopher Bell is 29 points above the cutline, making a solid case for him to succeed, and Hendrick Motorsports William Byron is just seven points above the cutline.

Denny Hamlin is in sixth place in the playoff standings and needs to outscore Kyle Larson and William Byron to lock his seat in the Championship 4 round. However, Hamlin is the five-time winner and has the most wins on the Martinsville track, but since 2015 he has only three top-five finishes.

The 43-year-old should aim for a victory and nothing less to advance to the championship title race at the Phoneix Raceway on November 10, 2024.
