Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney, and Austin Cindric shared their opinions on racing in Mexico. They showered excitement over the landmark event and called it “special” for them and NASCAR as a whole.
The 2025 Viva Mexico 250 marks a milestone as the NASCAR Cup Series holds its first-ever points-paying race in Mexico City at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on June 15. This event is significant as it is the Cup Series' first race outside of the United States since 1958, and it takes place at the renowned 2,429-mile road course situated 7,500 feet above sea level.
The Mexico race is the 16th of the season and the second seeding event for the inaugural NASCAR In-Season Challenge. The Cup Series race is set for 100 laps with coverage on Prime Video. The entry list includes 37 drivers with notable names such as William Byron, Kyle Larson and Daniel Suarez, who is racing on his home turf. Katherine Legge is making her second Cup Series start, and Denny Hamlin is set to miss out on the race following the birth of his son, with Ryan Truex substituting for him in the #11 car.
In a short interview conducted by Team Penske, the three drivers talked about racing in Mexico in the landmark event. Ryan Blaney said:
"I mean, I watched Busch races back in the day when they used to run there. I've never run there before, but I'm excited. I think anytime you get to go to a new country, you know, and go to new fan base, you know, maybe they haven't ever been to a NASCAR race and things like that. I always just like to see that excitement when we come into town. So that'll be a great experience I'm looking forward to."
Joey Logano said:
"You know, I think the fact that our sport, you know, at its top level is leaving, right, our home country of the United States to go race abroad. Like, that's pretty neat. Like, it's kind of cool to see that growth. It's something that's never been done before. So anytime you're, you know, a part of something new, it's always special. And I think it's going to have a huge reaction down there."
Austin Cindric answered:
"Mexico's going to be cool. I've actually never been to Mexico, so maybe I need to brush up on my Spanish. But I think it's going to be really cool for everybody in the series and on the team to kind of, I mean, not necessarily explore a lot, but get to go see, you know, maybe a different atmosphere than what we're used to and also learn a new racetrack."
Logano is a three-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion, in 2018, 2022 and 2024 while driving the #22 for Team Penske. As of 2025, he is the only active driver with three Cup Series Championships, joining an elite group of just ten drivers in NASCAR history to reach that mark.
Joey Logano has accumulated 37 career Cup Series wins, ranking him 26th on the all-time list. In the 2025 season, he is ranked in the 9th spot with 395 points, with two top-five finishes and four top-ten finishes.
Joey Logano gives his raw reaction to the ‘tearjerker’ docuseries about NASCAR icon Dale Earnhardt
Joey Logano shared his emotional response to the new four-part docuseries on NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, which is streaming on Amazon Prime. He praised the series for providing a wealth of information he hadn't known before, despite already being familiar with Earnhardt's legacy.
Joey Logano emphasized how the documentary offered a "very different perspective," particularly through the personal stories and struggles recounted by Earnhardt’s children, Dale Jr. and Kelley, describing the series as a "tearjerker" that stands apart from previous documentaries on the racing icon.
"Incredible series, I learned a lot that I actually did not know. I thought I knew most of it, but I did not. It's interesting to hear a different perspective from Dale Jr., his sister, Kelley, to hear their perspective of growing up around him and the struggles they had... It's a very different perspective than we have heard before with other Earnhardt documentaries... Pretty interesting to watch. Definitely, a bit of a tearjerker at the end," Joey Logano said, via Sports on Prime.
Logano, a longtime fan of Earnhardt, noted that the series was especially impactful because it delved into the family’s experiences growing up around the legendary driver, offering insights not previously explored in depth. He appreciated hearing directly from Dale Jr. and Kelley about the challenges they faced and the realities of life in the Earnhardt household.
This personal angle, Joey Logano said, made the docuseries especially compelling and emotional, adding layers to the public persona of Dale Earnhardt that many fans, including himself, had not fully understood before.
