The 2024 FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway has been postponed to Monday, August 19, due to rain. The start of the NASCAR Cup Series race was delayed more than two hours on Sunday, August 18, and 51 of the 200 laps were completed when the wet weather struck Michigan again.
With rain causing multiple delays, NASCAR officials decided to postpone the remaining action of the Michigan race to 11 a.m. ET on Monday. Live action can be enjoyed on USA Network, NBC Sports App, MRN Radio, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott was leading the race when inclement weather halted the race on Lap 51. At the time the race was called, Martin Truex Jr. was in second place, with Bubba Wallace, Alex Bowman, and Tyler Reddick rounding off the top five.
Denny Hamlin, who started from pole, had spun on Lap 39, bringing out the caution. However, he recovered and was listed as 17th in the 36-car field.
Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney grabbed the lead on a restart and held it in a three-lap shootout to win Stage 1 of the FireKeepers Casino 400.
Monday's weather forecast in Michigan predicts partly cloudy skies with a high of 67 degrees and a two percent chance of rain at the start of the FireKeepers Casino 400, according to Weather Underground.
