Martin Truex Jr. is paying tribute to his days at Dale Earnhardt Inc. in his final career Cup Series race this Sunday at the Phoenix Raceway. The 2017 champion will be piloting a DEI-inspired #19 car, which has sparked many comments from race fans on social media.

Truex's Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota will have a dark red look to it in Sunday's race, much like the #1 DEI Chevrolet he drove in the early days of his Cup Series career. A photo of the 44-year-old's final paint scheme was leaked on social media by a race fan via X.

There were many other comments from race fans in awe of the paint scheme's appearance, with one saying:

"That’s gorgeous."
"This is sick! I’d love to see Martin have a good run in it to end his career," wrote another.
"Beauty," commented a fourth.

The paint scheme leaking to social media wasn't an official reveal from JGR, but rather the picture posted by the X user was through a window at the team's shop in Charlotte, North Carolina. This made a few race fans agitated, with one saying:

The user, by the handle of BrendanKeeler19, was questioned by a race fan asking why he spoiled the reveal of Truex's paint scheme. The user responded by saying they had a right to post the photo.

"It’s a viewing area open to the public," they wrote.

Martin Truex Jr. announced his retirement last June

This Sunday's season finale at the Phoenix Raceway will be the final race in Martin Truex Jr.'s career after he announced his retirement a few months ago. The driver of the #19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota broke the news in a press conference ahead of the Cup Series race at the Iowa Speedway in June.

"I will not be back full-time next year," Truex said via NBC Sports. "It's been a hell of a ride."

Truex won 34 races over his 19-year full-time career in the Cup Series, with 31 of them coming in the latter eight seasons. He reached the pinnacle of the sport in 2017 with Furniture Row Racing, winning eight races and capturing his first and only championship.

Truex drove another season with Furniture Row the following year before moving to JGR ahead of the 2019 campaign as the former ceased operations at the end of 2018. He's spent the last six seasons of his career with JGR, making two appearances in the Championship 4 in 2019 and 2021. His last win to date came last year at New Hampshire.
