Parker Kligerman finished sixth in the Cure 250 held on October 12, 2024, at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Road Course, one of the most controversial races of the 2024 season. Former NASCAR Cup Series driver Kenny Wallace explained why Kligerman got "wronged" by NASCAR. Later, the #48 driver reacted to the whole situation.
The #48 driver was just two feet away from the finish line when the white flag was wavered and NASCAR threw in a caution, destroying Kligerman's only win. Wallace slammed the stock car association for their delayed decision and expressed his anger in an X post:
"What did they do? They wait and wait and wait, and they throw the white flag before Parker gets to the start/finish line. So, two feet determines whether Parker Kligerman is a winner or not," Wallace said via X (2:24).
He added:
"Here's the controversy; it's (officials) human...NASCAR decides when to push that button. It's a human up there, the human decides when to push the button. So, they push the button two feet before Parker Kligerman gets there, and it's just a bi**h. And that's all there's to it."
Finally, after two days, Parker Kligerman reacted to Kenny Wallace's video, slamming NASCAR for their decision. The 34-year-old is racing his last season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and he simply replied:
"I appreciate you, Kenny."
He qualified for the race in P22 and finished in sixth place after the restart held in the final moments of the race.
Parker Kligerman quotes Vin Diesel while reacting to his P6 finish
Sam Mayer won the Cure for Driving 250 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 12, after NASCAR threw a caution before wavering the white flag while Big Machine driver Parker Kligerman was leading the pack. He was just two feet away from his maiden victory of his career, and NASCAR denied it.
On the 66th lap, Leland Honeyman slammed straight into the guardrails and was stuck there, unable to move, making it obvious to bring out caution on the track. But the NASCAR officials took more than 20 seconds to make the call, costing Kligerman his win. He aimed to end his 117 winless race streak, but the racing association robbed him of the opportunity.
In a post-race interview, Parker Kligerman reacted to the whole situation and quoted Vin Diesel from the famous street car racing series Fast and the Furious and said:
"God. I mean, you know, that's, that's just, that's a call, and that's sports, and you know that sometimes you're an inch short or a mile short or whatever. It doesn't matter. What Vin Diesel say, doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Sometimes you get a cost. You get the white flag by an inch or a mile and four chances for a second." [00:11]
The Big Machine driver led the pack before the restart, and after the restart on the seventh turn, Sam Mayer took the lead by coming from inside. This loss increased his winless streak to 118 and shattered his advancement to round eight.
