Parker Kligerman took to his social media account to share an emotional tribute to Charlie Henderson, one of NASCAR's oldest team owners, and his former team boss. Henderson, who owned Henderson Motorsports, passed away on Saturday, and his team confirmed it with a statement on social media.
Henderson, the longtime Abingdon, Virginia, resident, was the second-oldest team owner in NASCAR after Wood Brothers of Wood Brothers Racing. A former driver, he started racing at Kingsport Speedway in 1975 and then moved to NASCAR by 1982.
Henderson's Henderson Motorsports debuted in 1982 and competed in 431 races across all three NASCAR national series. They have 31 Cup Series, 298 Xfinity Series, 108 Truck Series, and one ARCA Racing Series entry.
After Henderson passed away on Saturday, Henderson Motorsports shared a post on social media to confirm it. Resharing the post, Kligerman, an active racing driver for the team, dropped an emotional tribute.
"Very sad day for this sport and the Henderson family. Charlie, his whole family & this race team have meant so much to me over the last decade. Charlie and his family In some of my tougher moments in my racing career, have always been there to give me a shot and truly believed in me when many others didn’t.
"And together we have done some incredible things! And It was all led by Charlie, who would always push us to make the cars faster, he’d ask us incessantly, “what do you need to win?” He was so dedicated even when it wasn’t in his best financial interest!" Parker Kligerman stated on X.
Parker Kligerman returned to racing with Henderson Motorsports in the Truck Series this season, a team with which he raced from 2016 to 2023. Henderson Motorsports currently competes in the Truck Series and fields the #75 Chevrolet Silverado Truck for Parker Kligerman (full-time), and Patrick Emerling (part-time).
