In his maiden Indy 500 qualifying attempt, Kyle Larson made it all the way to the Fast 6 and qualified in 5th place. This means that the Hendrick Motorsports driver will start in the second row of the prestigious race, in which he will compete before taking part in the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.

The qualifying result is one which Larson claims he's having a tough time believing. Speaking to the press after the All-Star race, the #5 driver opened up on his thoughts regarding his Indy 500 qualifying result.

"It's awesome. It just makes it all mean something more when you can line up on the second row of the Indianpolis 500, it's pretty crazy. I can't believe it really too. I thought we can make the Fast 12, that'll be exceeding expectations and then to qualify as well as we did yesterday and getting in the Fast 6 today was unbelievable. Happy with how it has gone so far there," Larson said, as per Frontstretch. [4:06]

When asked about how he's doing so well in his first stint in IndyCar, Kyle Larson credited the "great team" behind him of Hendrick Motorsports and Arrow McLaren. He claimed that he's been handed "an awesome racecar" that has ample downforce and speed.

Larson emphasized that qualifying went a lot better than he could have ever "hoped or anticipated."

Kyle Larson on what he can improve from a logistical standpoint for the Double

During the media interaction after the NASCAR All-Star race where he finished in 3rd place, Kyle Larson was asked by a journalist about how nice it is for him to have a test run of going from Indianpolis to Charlotte.

Larson mentioned how he has made that hour long flight from Indianapolis to Charlotte "a number of times", that it wasn't a big deal, and doing a dry run was good. He revealed how he didn't have a firesuit in Indianapolis for the All-Star race, and the firesuit he wore in the All-Star race was one he got into once he got to the racetrack.

Having said that, he pointed to the things he can still improve on from a logistical standpoint for the Double Duty.

"There's things that we can clean little bit on that side of logistics like having my 600 suit on the airplane so I can change and kind of get out of the sweaty stuff, would be nice. But overall, it all went really smooth. Hendrick Motorsports and Hendrick Aviation make everything as easy as it can be," Larson said. [6:35]

In the end, Kyle Larson thanked Hendrick Motorsports, claiming that if it wasn't for Rick Hendrick's team, or if it was some other team, things wouldn't have gone as smoothly as they did.
