Kyle Petty reacted as his father and legendary NASCAR driver Richard Petty made a monumental donation to their organization, Victory Junction. The 87-year-old donated 403 acres of land to the organization that helps children with serious illnesses by providing them with 'life-changing' camping experiences, all free of cost.
Victory Junction was inspired by the ideology of the young Adam Petty, Kyle Petty's son, whose life was tragically cut short after a crash in New Hampshire Motor Speedway during a practice session in 2000, when he was only 19.
After his passing, Adam Petty's family kept his idea alive by establishing Victory Junction. Based in Randleman, North Carolina, Victory Junction helps kids by providing them with camping experiences.
Legendary racer and Kyle Petty's father Richard recently donated 403 acres of land to the organization, which is a major help given they run free of cost for the children. With this, the seven-time Cup Series champion also continued his philanthropic work. His son shared a social media post, calling it a big day for the family.
"Today was a big day for our family. 403 additional acres donated to @VictoryJunction," Kyle Petty stated on X.
Kyle Petty aims to keep Victory Junction alive in the coming century
This generous donation is set to be a major aid to Victory Junction as it helps be a beacon of hope in the lives of children who are facing difficulties with serious illnesses. Owing to the fact that they do not charge any fee from them, Victory Junction largely depends on donations to continue.
Continuing their services is Kyle Petty's aim, as he said, being the Emeritus Chairman of the organization. He mentioned that he can still feel his late son's spirit when he sees the children smile in the camp, and he aims to continue these services for the coming 100 years.
"When I see the joy and the smiles this camp brings to kids and their families, I can still feel Adam’s giving spirit and see his smile. I want to make sure Camp is here in 100 years, and we hope this gift inspires others to support Victory Junction so that it remains a place of joy for generations to come," he said in a statement.
Richard Petty, who was one of the founding fathers of the organization, shares the same view as his son Kyle. He said:
"My family and I are dedicated to leaving a legacy. By donating an additional 403 acres, we hope to ensure the camp can continue serving even more children for generations to come."
Victory Junction has nine sessions planned for the Summer of 2025, including six-weekend schedules for Spring.
