Former Cup Series champion Tony Stewart co-owns the NASCAR team Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), which has claimed two Cup Series championships since its founding in 2009. Stewart himself secured one of those titles in 2011, achieving the unique feat of winning as both a driver and co-owner. Rodney Childers, the crew chief for Kevin Harvick, who earned SHR’s second title in 2014, recently reflected on this defining moment for both his career and SHR's legacy in NASCAR.

Kevin Harvick moved to Tony Stewart-led SHR in 2014, the same year NASCAR introduced the 4 round elimination playoff format. Piloting the #4 Chevy, Harvick went on to secure his first and only Cup Series title under exceptional guidance from veteran crew chief Rodney Childers.

As SHR announced its exit from NASCAR following the end of this year's campaign, Rodney Childers reshared a video of SHR's final Cup Series title, reminiscing the golden age of the team (via X, formerly Twitter) on October 25:

Kevin Harvick achieved 36 Cup Series wins with Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) alongside crew chief Rodney Childers before retiring after the 2023 season. Although he reached the playoffs that year, Harvick didn’t advance past the Round of 16. Following his departure, Tony Stewart and Gene Haas named Josh Berry as Harvick's successor for 2024. However, with SHR’s planned exit from NASCAR, Berry will race full-time for Wood Brothers Racing in 2025.

Tony Stewart launched his NASCAR journey in the Truck Series in 1996 and quickly moved to the Winston Cup Series, propelled by 11 wins and 41 top-ten finishes in the Busch Series. Over his 18-year career, Stewart claimed three Cup Series championships, 49 race wins, over 300 top-ten finishes, and 15 poles. His final Cup race appearance was the 2016 Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami, where NASCAR is scheduled to race this weekend.

"It's easy to sit on your a**": Tony Stewart lambasts online critics following their 'unjust' strike on SHR's fast-approaching shutdown

Tony Stewart has recently shared his thoughts on the extensive criticism he faced for Stewart Haas Racing's imminent exit from the sport. Stewart announced SHR's exit earlier this year, however, the reason for their exit remains unknown.

Besides the two Cup Series titles mentioned above, SHR also has one Xfinity Series title to their name, which was secured by Cole Custer, who pilots the #00 Ford for the team.

Despite their success in the sport, several people have condemned Tony Stewart's decision to close shop in NASCAR. Fox Sports' Adam Stern recently spoke with Stewart about the online critics and asked him to shed light on the subject.

"The bashing I got online and on social media was very unjust through the process. It's easy to sit on your a**, on a chair, on your couch in your mom's house and sit there and tell us how we're doing it wrong. But nobody can seem to sit there and come in on Monday morning and tell us how to do it right," Stewart said (via Fox Sports).

SHR's Chase Briscoe qualified for the 2024 Cup Series playoffs, however, he could not make it past the Round of 12.
