Trackhouse Racing signs 17-year-old wonderkid Connor Zilisch on a multiyear deal

The 17-year-old rising star Connor Zilisch, who has competed in various motorsports disciplines, has signed a multi-year development deal with Trackhouse Racing.

On Thursday (January 11), Justin Marks owned Trackhouse Racing announced that Zilisch will begin a development program with the team that includes a partial schedule in the CARS Late Model Tour, ARCA Menards Series, Trans-Am, IMSA, NASCAR Xfinity and Truck Series this year.

Connor Zilisch will also compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship events, including the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona International Speedway later this month, driving an LMP2 entry for Era Motorsport.

In a team release, Justin Marks expressed his admiration for Zilisch's growth as a racing talent, noting his progression from kart racing at the Trackhouse Motorplex to a notable victory in the Trans-Am race at VIR.

Praising the young talent, Marks said:

“I have watched Connor grow from a youngster racing go-karts at the Trackhouse Motorplex to an up-close seat as he beat all of us in the Trans-Am race at VIR a few months ago. This kid is an amazing talent who we wanted to be a part of the Trackhouse family. We are going to go slow with Connor and make sure he’s fully prepared as he advances in what we believe will be a long racing career.”

In a team release, the Mooresville, North Carolina native said that joining Trackhouse Racing is a realization of a dream for him. He extended his thanks to Justin Marks and the entire Trackhouse Racing team for providing him with the opportunity.

Zilisch admitted the pleasure of racing with Chevrolet over the past two years and expressed excitement about continuing that partnership.

“This is a dream come true. I can’t thank Justin (Marks) and everyone at Trackhouse Racing enough for giving me this opportunity. It has been a pleasure to spend the last two years racing with Chevrolet and I am thrilled to extend that relationship. I have a lot to learn, but I don’t think there is a better place for me to learn than with Trackhouse Racing,” Zilisch said.

Connor Zilisch secured runner-up position in the 2022 MX-5 Cup Championship and also received the Rookie of the Year award. He also made his ARCA Menards Series debut at Watkins Glen International in 2023 where he finished second.
