Denny Hamlin's long-time partner and fiancée, Jordan Fish, is over 40 weeks pregnant with their third child. The two were expecting their baby in early June but have been waiting for over a week, and with the Michigan race scheduled this Sunday (June 8), Fish is hoping to hold off labor until the Cup event is over.

In a recent story on Instagram, Fish shared a "bathroom chat" with their eldest daughter, Taylor James, who was asking her about not trying hard enough for the baby. Fish replied and said she would like to wait until the Joe Gibbs Racing driver returned.

"I can't because dad's gone, so we're trying to wait for a couple of days until Sunday night when it's clear, and Monday...Sunday night we can try again. Which is tommorow night. We're just going to take it easy," Fish said.

When asked about missing the race on Saturday (June 7) by FOX Sports' Bob Pockrass, after the practice and qualifying sessions, Hamlin shared that he was on standby and monitoring the situation.

"Just patiently waiting. Thought we’d be almost a week in by now, but just patiently waiting," Denny Hamlin said.
"We’re gonna wait to see where her symptoms are at. I’ve got some meetings and whatnot here first. So after that’s over, see where her symptoms (are) at and if she has any then certainly will go back," he added.

Denny Hamlin is currently ranked fourth in the NASCAR Cup points standings after Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Christopher Bell, ahead of the Michigan race, and will be granted a waiver to stay playoff eligible.

Ryan Truex is placed on standby for Hamlin if he needs to leave the track and fly to North Carolina for the birth of his son.
