Danny Efland is set to work with Harrison Burton as his crew chief in the 2025 Xfinity Series season. AM Racing signed Burton on a full-time contract earlier last month.

2021 was the last time Burton took part in the Xfinity Series, racing with Joe Gibbs Racing. He moved to the Cup Series in the following season with Wood Brothers Racing and has been competing with them. He won his first race earlier this year during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona and qualified for the playoffs but was eliminated from the championship contention.

His return to the Xfinity Series was announced earlier in September when AM Racing signed him for the 2025 season. Former driver Danny Efland, who took part in over 60 Xfinity Series races between 2007 and 2013, will work as his crew chief in the team. He moved to the engineering side of the sport after his short stint in racing.

"I am looking forward to working with Danny next season," Burton said. "With his credentials as a successful engineer and experience as a race car driver, it should benefit our realistic goals of contending for race wins and chasing an Xfinity Series championship."

Burton was previously the lowest-rated driver in the Cup Series. While that changed quickly after his victory at Daytona, the team had announced his replacement before that. Back in July, Wood Brothers signed Josh Berry to drive the #21 in the 2025 season. He drives the #4 Ford under Stewart-Haas Racing, but the team is set to cease operations at the end of the season.

Harrison Burton expects to build AM Racing into a race-winning team

The #15 Ford under AM Racing is yet to win a race this season. It was piloted by Hailie Deegan initially but she was let go from the team mid-season. Since then, multiple drivers have taken the wheel of the car but the best result has been a P8 finish in Chicago (Joey Logano).

As Harrison Burton moves from the Cup Series back to Xfinity, he is hoping to use his experience to help and build AM Racing into a race-winning team. He said:

"I’m excited to join AM Racing and help build it into the race-winning race team I believe it can and will be," Harrison Burton said. "I think this will be a great opportunity for me to take the things I’ve learned in the Cup Series, bring those to the Xfinity Series and be the best driver I can be."

"It’s a blessing to continue my Nascar journey, and I intend to make the most of this opportunity."

So far, Harrison Burton has taken part in 75 Xfinity races in two full-time and one part-time season and has managed to win four of those with 18 top-10 finishes. His best championship finish was in eighth place, consecutively in 2020 and 2021.
