NASCAR insider Dave Moody, who works as an announcer for Motor Racing Network and also hosts the SiriusXM Speedway show recently labeled an article from The Daily Downforce as clickbait. After learning about this information, public figure Danny Baldwin, who is acclaimed by noteworthy NASCAR journalists called out Moody for his clickbait comment, resulting in an online feud.
The recent article by The Daily Downforce spoke about the implications of the ongoing legal battle between 23XI Racing/Front Row Motorsports and NASCAR regarding the heavily disputed charter agreement on the NASCAR '25 video game, which is reportedly scheduled to be released in the fall of 2025. The article specifically talks about the possibility of 23XI and Front Row Motorsports not being a part of the latest version of the video game.
Sharing this article on X, MRN's announcer Dave Moody criticized the article and labeled it clickbait. He wrote:
"World Class Clickbait. No one -- on either side of this lawsuit -- has said anything about 23XI and FRM not competing in 2025. In fact, all parties have said exactly the opposite; that they will compete."
While Moody might have mistaken the news about the video game to be about the 2025 Cup Series campaign, Danny Baldwin responded to Moody's criticism and wrote on X:
"Well, you mistakenly read a not misleading headline at all to be something that you think is misleading when it never was. Dave, it’s not hard. You’re making it hard, dude. You always act like this. You always act like you have to be right when you’re not this time. Grow up."
Meanwhile, recent reports revealed that 23XI Racing and FRM will compete in the 2025 Cup Series campaign as open entries, as NASCAR has denied the possibility of handing out charters to them.
NASCAR insider explains 23XI and FRM’s limited options for charters and team expansion amid lawsuit developments
Fox Sports journalist Bob Pockrass recently expressed his views on the possibility of 23XI and FRM being allowed to run as chartered teams. While running as open entry teams does grant them access to participate in the competition, the absence of charters can be a huge financial blow for the teams in question.
Responding to a fan's query regarding the charter situation, Pockrass wrote on X:
"NASCAR says charter agreement is off the table for 23XI and Front Row. So only ways, unless NASCAR changes its mind and re-offers their two charters, for them to be charter teams would be for teams to win injunction or teams sign charter agreements for transferred charters,"
Moreover, as both teams were planning their expansion in the Cup Series by acquiring charts from Stewart Haas Racing, the ongoing lawsuit has led to further complications for 23XI and FRM. Pockrass explained on X:
"The two SHR charters are still TBD. The teams asked in their preliminary injunction motion for at the minimum that those charter sales to go through to them while the lawsuit continues. If the judge doesn't grant that request, TBD. Lease to another team for a year? Don't know."
The Cup Series returns to Bowman Gray Stadium for the much-awaited Clash on February 2nd, at 8:00 PM Eastern Time. Could 23XI and FRM have acquired charters by then? Let us know in the comments.
