Recently, Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan co-owned 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports saw their injunctions revoked by a court in Richmond. This led to a lot of speculation over the future of these organizations as chartered teams in NASCAR.

Bob Pockrass recently appeared on the Happy Hour podcast and shared his insight on some of the key questions about the two teams. Pockrass was asked by the show's co-host Katelyn Vincie that if the Denny Hamlin co-owned team is forced to run as an open team, how much would it hurt from a financial standpoint.

"Well Denny Hamlin told us for a three car team you're talking tens of millions of dollars. And from what I can tell depending on your sponsorship, it impacts your overall revenues as a race team by 30 to 50%. But the big thing is that you have to race your way in every week. And that might not be a big deal every week but it's a pretty big deal when it comes to the Daytona 500 and you're trying to race your way in," Pockrass described. [34:00]

This prompted Mamba Smith to wonder what the events in December could look like and whether there could actually be a trial. Pockrass claimed that most such cases end up being settled.

However, in this case, both parties, the two teams and NASCAR have already got 'their heels dug in a little bit.' This is why despite the courts advising them to mediate, neither party is willing to settle. In fact, NASCAR has said that they won't redo the entire charter agreement because two teams out of 15 refused to sign.

Having said that, Bob Pockrass added that there could potentially be a two-week jury trial in December.

Bob Pockrass answers whether 23XI Racing is experiencing internal stress because of external factors

During the Happy Hour podcast, the show's host Kevin Harvick asked Bob Pockrass whether the recent happenings in the legal battle have had an effect inside the teams. Harvick claimed that while Denny Hamlin is out there winning races with JGR, his two teams at 23XI Racing aren't exactly running the way they're expected to.

"I think it's certainly in the back of their minds even as many times as you can tell employees that, 'Hey you're going to be taken care of. You're going to be taken care of.' If they know that your revenues are going to be less than what you what you would expect them to be it's going to make them wonder," Pockrass claimed. [35:40]

He added that Bubba Wallace is one driver who hasn't signed for the 2026 season with 23XI Racing yet. Pockrass claimed that the legal drama is bound to add 'an unnecessary distraction' inside a team and can definitely impact a driver and the organization as a whole.

When it comes to sponsors, Pockrass claimed that 23XI Racing remains confident in retaining their sponsors. However, if there's a chance where they miss the Daytona 500, things could get tricky from that point on.
