McCall Gaulding, Zane Smith's wife, has shared a heartfelt post expressing gratitude for her husband. McCall said she was "so thankful" for Smith as the couple celebrated Thanksgiving on a sundown boat ride.
Smith is a professional stock car racing driver who previously competed in the NASCAR Cup Series with Spire Motorsports. He married McCall before the start of this season, his rookie year in the premier series.
McCall Smith took to her Instagram stories to post a short clip from their boat ride along with a sweet caption that read,
"So thankful for you my love."
The boat ride came on the heels of the couple's Thanksgiving celebration.
Zane Smith and McCall also celebrated the holiday with their dogs Kygo and Roxy. In a previous Instagram story, Kygo, a six-year-old French bulldog, could be seen "helping" prepare the turkey in the kitchen. Kygo later watched over Roxy, a four-year-old golden retriever, who was playing in the pool.
While Zane Smith is enjoying his NASCAR off-season, he has yet to secure a seat for the 2025 season. His previous stint in the No. 71 Chevrolet Camaro for Spire Motorsports witnessed him score two top-5 and four top-10 finishes.
One of the teams expected to sign the 25-year-old driver is Front Row Motorsports. The Mooresville-based outfit hasn't signed a driver for its new third car, which was acquired from the now-discontinued Stewart-Haas Racing team.
FRM is also in the middle of antitrust proceedings that the team filed with 23XI Racing against NASCAR.
McCall shares her favorite moment from Zane Smith's 2024 season
A few days ago, McCall Smith was asked by a follower on social media what her favorite moment in Zane Smith's 2024 season was. She chose the Ally 400 race at Nashville Superspeedway where Smith scored his best finish of the season in second.
In an Instagram story, Smith said,
"Mine has to be Nashville where Zane almost won his first Cup race!" You go through some low times in this sport and we were definitely at one of our lowest until this moment. Watching this weekend be the pivotal point in his season was special!"
She added:
"Always so proud of Zane, what he does on the track but most importantly, off. No matter what he has going on behind the scenes, he is still going to be Zane, work his ass off and be the best human he can be."
During the closing laps of the Nashville race, Zane Smith was sitting outside the top 10. The race had five overtime restarts, which opened the door for Smith to gain positions. He was in P3 behind Tyler Reddick at the start of the final lap and managed to snatch P2 from the latter but Joey Logano held on to the lead to win the race.
