On November 27, 2024, X user @dom_lucre re-posted a video showcasing Ellen DeGeneres at Jeremy Clarkson's pub in the UK. In the video, which was originally posted by Lisa Hogan, Ellen is seen alongside her wife, Portia De Rossi, and a few others. The video was from the time The Corrs came to perform at Clarkson's pub.
The caption of the X user's video mentioned:
"DEVELOPING: Ellen DeGeneres is almost unrecognizable after being spotted at a United Kingdom Pub without her blonde hair after moving to the country after Trump won the the election. DeGeneres also failed to make a Hollywood comeback prior to her move by bombing every stand-up show she scheduled this year."
Internet users quickly reacted to Ellen's video and took to X to express their opinions. They commented on the change in Ellen's appearance wherein she has ditched her signature blonde hair for a shade of dark brown and her move to the UK.
"Flee the country, changes appearance... what's next? Fake her own death?" an X user said.
"Ellen ran away to the country that jails people for criticizing political officials. Good luck doing comedy there, Ellen," an X user commented.
"Hiding already, must be on the Diddy list," another user mentioned.
"Ellen is worried. What skeletons does she have? You'll find out soon enough. She can't hide," a netizen stated.
Netizens also speculated that the retired comedian had moved to the UK because of Trump winning the 2024 presidential elections.
"This is what TDS does to people," an internet user claimed Ellen had Trump derangement syndrome.
"She's just using Trump as her reason to run," another internet user commented.
"This is the last time you're going to see me"— Ellen DeGeneres mentioned at Santa Rosa show
According to a report by SF Gate dated July 3, 2024, Ellen DeGeneres performed her show "Ellen’s Last Stand…Up” at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa in July 2024.
Ellen DeGeneres shared with the audience about what had been going on since they last saw her, claiming that she "got kicked out of show business for being mean." However, the retired comedian said she is a strong woman who can be impatient, tough, and demanding.
She also stated that it was the second time she had been kicked out of the entertainment business, recalling that the first time was in 1997 when she came out as a lesbian. Joking about the third time it might happen, Ellen said she'd be kicked out for being "old, gay, and mean, the triple crown."
As per a report by Buzzfeed News dated July 2020, former employees of The Ellen DeGeneres Show came forward talking about the retired comedian creating a toxic environment.
“That ‘be kind’ b***s**t only happens when the cameras are on. It’s all for show. I know they give money to people and help them out, but it’s for show,” one of the ex-employees told Buzzfeed News.
During the Q&A session of her show, Ellen DeGeneres answered a fan's question about whether she will be seen in movies or on Broadway.
“Um, no. This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done,” said Ellen.
Another fan requested the retired comedian to reprise her role as Dory for a Pixar movie to which Ellen responded that it wouldn't be happening and that she was "going."
In other news, Ellen DeGeneres endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election campaign. However, neither Ellen nor her wife has commented on whether they went to the UK because Trump won the election.
Additionally, Fox News reported that the retired comedian and her wife sold their home in Montecito in August 2024 and had been house hunting in England since the beginning of October 2024.
