"Richard Gere followed Ellen and is moving to Spain! Hollywood Elites are hiding."

The rumor further circulated on X and Threads in different variations. The post claimed that Gere was following Ellen DeGeneres' steps of leaving the country after Donald Trump's reelection.

For those unaware, rumors about Ellen leaving the US along with her wife, Portia de Rossi, and settling in the UK in the wake of the Presidential vote result had surfaced. Despite the rumors, it's necessary to note that the rumors are not confirmed yet.

Several netizens seemed to believe the post and made comments as well. However, the rumors about Richard Gere moving to Spain due to the election outcome are unsubstantiated. No confirmation has been provided by Gere. The Facebook page that initially shared the post is known for uploading satirical content.

The bio of the Facebook page also clearly states:

While Richard Gere mentioned relocating to Spain with his family, he didn't cite the reason to be Trump's reelection

As aforementioned, Gere had talked about leaving the country and going to Spain with his family when he appeared on the Today show on November 20, 2024. According to Gere, his wife Alejandra Silva is Spanish, and the primary reason behind the relocation would be "for her family, her friends, her culture."

On November 27, Gere and his wife Alejandra were present at the ELLE for Future 2024 event in Madrid. He then told Elle Spain what he liked most about Spain. He continued:

"The place is beautiful. We were talking about communities, there's a very strong sense of community and people care about each other. You know, in my part of the world, those kind of bonds, social bonds, and community bonds are breaking down, so I do appreciate them."

On November 20, Richard Gere also made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Gere again spoke about the shift to Spain with his family. The actor mentioned that his wife "gave seven years in the US," and thus they decided to spend a few years in Madrid.
