On August 5, American actor Nick Offerman attended the virtual fundraiser for Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign called “Comics for Kamala.” The Last of Us star performed a song at the fundraising event proclaiming his support for the current United States Vice President. He went on record to say he is “proud to be a Kamala man” and be on her “side.”
Nick Offerman’s anti-Trump song, which was crooned to the tune of God Bless the USA (also called Proud to be an American), also threw shots at Republicans, including their Vice President nominee for the upcoming election, JD Vance.
“And JD Vance looks like a baby’s b**t underneath that creepy beard/ So, I’ll say it loud and I’ll sing it proud, those guys are f**king weird,” he sang while playing his guitar.
Nick Offerman also poked fun at the Ohio senator, referencing the now-debunked online rumor that he had s*x with a couch.
"I don't mind s*x with p**n stars. I'd do it too if I had the guts. But when it comes to f**king the furniture, that's just f**king nuts," he sang.
The video of his four-minute-long performance while indulging in mutton chops has now garnered severe traction online. For instance, X user @TheNicAbides commented on liberal influencer Art Candee’s repost of the clip by calling Nick Offerman a national treasure for his performance at the Kamala Harris fundraiser.
Several others had similar reactions and lauded Nick Offerman for his effort.
“Oh, that is so good. And thank you to Nick Offerman for taking time out of his Isaac Asimov biopic to make that video. At least, I assume…” one person wrote.
“Not sure what's more impressive; the song or the mutton chops. This man is a god d*mn national treasure!” a fan wrote.
Others united to call out Offerman for taking a “cringy” hit at Republicans:
“Soooo cringe,” a netizen wrote.
“Nothing has ever been less funny than this. In all of human history,” one netizen wrote.
“Pathetic,” another netizen wrote.
Some referenced Nick’s character from the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreations, where he played Ron Swanson between 2009 and 2015.
“I liked him better in the ‘Parks and Rec.’ This new character is pretty cringe,” an individual wrote.
“Ron from ‘Parks and Rec’ would def be voting Trump,” another individual wrote.
Notably, since Donald Trump announced JD Vance as his running mate, there have been growing calls to replace him, reportedly for his gaffes.
In brief, exploring Nick Offerman’s performance and more at Kamala Harris’ fundraiser
On Monday night, Nick Offerman appeared at the virtual Kamala Harris presidential campaign fundraiser “Comics for Kamala.” During the virtual campaign, he not only shaded Donald Trump and his running mate, saying they “don’t got a chance,” but also mentioned that he “quit the GOP” as he can no longer “abide by a man who’s tried for 34 felonies.”
The former Republican supporter also proclaimed in his song how he can finally “stand up and face the facts” that the people he once “cheered” for are a “bunch of wingnut white nationalists.” He added that he was “blind” for a long time but can now “see a clear way to decency.”
“So, I’m proud to be on Kamala’s side, where I know I’ll never see some spray-tanned tool denying a girl her ethnic identity/ Kamala’s got momentum, and more importantly, she didn’t hide any nuclear secrets where the Mar-a-Lagos pee,” Offerman sang.
During his performance, which reportedly raised $12,000 in donations, Nick also gave a shoutout to Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff, calling him the “future first husband.”
Besides the Fargo star, several other notable personalities joined the Zoom fundraiser to show support for the Democratic presidential nominee. This included Ben Stiller, Kathy Griffin, John Stamos, Ed Helms, Tiffany Haddish, Ike Barinholtz, Mark Hamill, Kathryn Hahn, and Rosie O’Donnell, among others. Together, they helped raise over $460,000.
Meanwhile, the likes of Jane Fonda attended another Zoom-based fundraising rally titled “Elders for Kamala,” where she stated, “the orange man is terrible” and “Kamala is the leader we need right now,” calling her fierce, smart, and experienced.
