Zoe Wilson, the 8-year-old who drove herself to Target in September made her way into the headlines. After the news went viral, and many on social media questioned the parents, Zoe Wilson’s mother spoke to The New York Times on Friday, October 4, 2024, and revealed how she is still processing everything. Zoe’s mother, Tangie Wilson said:

"I still haven’t had time to process it mentally.... It was very stressful, very exhausting — mentally, physically, emotionally. I could not sleep because it all started with Zoe leaving the house when I was asleep."

She further said:

"It was like someone snatched the rug from under my feet. And it was just all these questions — everybody wanted to know who this little girl was and how did she do it."

Further, in her interview with the media outlet, Zoe’s mother also revealed that the night before the driving incident took place, Zoe argued with her elder sister. The next day, around 7 am, she took off with her mother’s car keys, ID, and their family dog, Bear.

For the unversed, Zoe Wilson left the world of the internet in shock after news broke about the 8-year-old driving herself to Target from her home in Bedford, Ohio. However, the girl returned home safely as the police were able to find her, and she reportedly came home enjoying a Starbucks frappuccino.

“I think 90 percent of it was just her driving off of using go-karts”- Zoe Wilson’s mother claimed that she came back home with makeup and toys from Target

Zoe Wilson has been in the limelight ever since the news about the 8-year-old driving herself to Target and her way back home, safely reached the realms of the internet.

Furthermore, The Daily Beast also reported on October 6 that a neighboring motorist captured Zoe driving the car. Meanwhile, the mother stated that Zoe has never driven a car before in her life and might have recalled her experience of using go-karts. Tangie Wilson said:

“I think 90 per cent of it was just her driving off of using go-karts and watching me drive.”

The mother also stated how Zoe’s broken iPad screen motivated her to go to Target, however, upon reaching the store, she was not able to figure out the model, and other technicalities. Hence, she came back home with a bunch of toys, makeup, and a Starbucks Frappucino.

Furthermore, while the story ended on a happy note since nobody was hurt or harmed, Tangie assured that she spoke to Zoe, and explained how dangerous the situation could have been. The mother said:

“I spoke to her and reassured her that I loved her and how I wouldn’t want anything to happen to her and how dangerous and big the situation was. But when we did go places moving forward, if she wanted a slushy from the store, I would tell her no as a consequence.”

On the other hand, the incident was also taken into account by the Bedford Police Department which posted on Facebook claiming that Zoe was back “home safe.”
