Multi-billionaire business tycoon Elon Musk recently explained his controversial reaction to Donald Trump's alleged second assassination attempt in nine weeks. The former American President was the target of an attempted assassination when shots were fired at Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
According to a report by NDTV, Secret Service agents arrested Ryan Wesley Routh as the suspect in the assassination attempt. They also recovered a high-powered AK-47-style rifle with a scope and a GoPro camera at the spot from where the shooting reportedly took place.
Replying to a post on X questioning why Donald Trump was being attacked, Elon Musk commented:
“And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala.”
Although it has been deleted, the comment drew widespread criticism with people on X labelling him irresponsible. Elon Musk soon came up with another tweet, explaining how something that a group of people find hilarious might not be accepted by everyone.
"Well, one lesson I’ve learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn’t mean it’s going to be all that hilarious as a post on 𝕏," wrote Elon Musk.
Elon Musk has been an open supporter of Donald Trump in the 2024 Presidential Race against Kamala Harris. He also endorsed Donald Trump after his first assassination attempt on July 13, comparing Trump with Theodore Roosevelt and slamming the Secret Service.
Posting the clip of Donald Trump's shooting incident near Butler, Pennsylvania, Elon Musk tweeted:
"I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery"
The Tesla CEO also drew parallels between Trump and Theodore Roosevelt. Roosevelt served as the President of the United States between 1901 to 1909 and was shot in the chest just before a campaign. Roosevelt managed to deliver his speech despite having a bullet lodged inside his chest.
Comparing the two incidents, Elon Musk tweeted:
“Last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt"
Lastly, Musk demanded the resignation of the Secret Service head. Sharing a clip in which an eye-witness claimed that they had already informed the police and Secret Service of a suspicious man, he slammed the Secret Service and the heads of Donald Trump's security.
"Fine Taylor...you win," Elon Musk's tweet about Taylor Swift after the songstress endorses Kamala Harris
Taylor Swift took to Instagram to endorse Kamala Harris and Tim Walz moments after the US Presidential debate between Harris and Donald Trump. Swift described Kamala Harris as a "steady-handed, gifted leader" who could lead the nation toward betterment.
"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election," she wrote on Instagram.
The Folklore artist signed off by calling herself a 'childless cat lady' - the moniker Trump's running mate JD Vance assigned to Kamala Harris in a 2021 interview.
The next day (September 11), Elon Musk reacted to the move by Taylor Swift, tweeting:
"Fine Taylor … you win … I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life."
The words garnered severe criticism from netizens, with many netizens slamming Musk for his controversial comment. Even Elon Musk's daughter Vivian Wilson called him "heinous incel nonsense" in a post on Instagram threads.
Referring to her father's comments on Taylor Swift's endorsement, Wilson wrote:
"Also, yes, I saw "the tweet". Heinous incel nonsense is in fact heinous incel nonsense. I don't really have anything to add to it, it's just abhorrent. That much is obvious and if you don't see how then you're part of the problem. I would just like to say to my audience members, don't let people talk to you like that. It's disgusting, it's belittling and incredibly sexist. You deserve better."
Vivian Wilson is one of Musk's 12 children. The Tesla boss estranged her after she filed to change her name and gender in June 2022.
