Reports related to UFO sightings recently went viral after a few lights were spotted on top of the US Capitol building. A picture featuring four bright lights captured at night has been grabbing a lot of attention on different platforms.
The New York Post reported on November 28, 2024, that the photo was clicked by a US Air Force veteran and licensed tour guide Dennis Diggins. The outlet also mentioned that the lights appeared several feet above the Statue of Freedom on top of the US Capitol.
The reports of the UFO sighting come a few weeks after Congress organized a hearing to discuss the alleged secret government programs linked to alien spacecraft, as per News 18.
While an official word about the reality behind the lights is currently awaited, netizens took to the comments section of a post shared by Raws Alerts on X to react. One of them also wrote:
"Project blue beam?"
The reaction referred to a conspiracy theory called Project Blue Beam. According to News 18, conspiracy theorist Jerid Yaw claimed earlier this year in a YouTube video that the project had been formed by a sinister elite group planning a false flag operation by using advanced technology to simulate alien invasion, leading to the creation of a new world order.
Users were spotted sharing their theories on the truth behind the alleged UFO lights appearing in the sky, with one claiming that he did not see anything in Washington D.C.
"Those are lens flares and the last one is a plane", a user reaction reads on X.
"I'm in DC. I don't see anything", another user stated on X.
"Those are airplanes on final approach to Reagan National. Calm down", a reaction on X mentioned.
A few others shared funny responses, addressing Donald Trump's recent US Presidential Election 2024 victory.
"It's just aliens getting in line to get good seats for Trump's inauguration", a reaction reads.
"Aliens are visiting earth now that Trump won. They knew Kamala couldn't handle them", one of the reactions stated.
"The aliens are celebrating the Trump landslide", a user wrote on X.
Experts open up on the alleged UFO lights appearing at the US Capitol building
While the photo of the alleged UFO lights is currently trending on different platforms, a video was also captured at the same spot. The clip was recorded a long distance from the US Capitol building and shows the lights shining brightly and twinkling at the same time.
At the beginning of the clip, two lights can be spotted getting away from each other. One of them then vanishes for a few seconds and appears again, with the remaining lights also following the same process as they start moving away.
According to The Express Tribune, UFO expert John Greenewald Jr. claimed that the lights emerged from a lens flare. He said that it has been happening at the US Capitol over the years, leading to reports of UFO sightings. John explained the same in a tweet posted on November 27, 2024, and stated:
"Just lens flares, but interesting someone is passing them around, again, and more so interesting people are buying it."
A report by Daily Mail stated that similar claims were made by a former paranormal investigator, known by the nickname Average Chris.
