Well-known pastor and motivational speaker T.D. Jakes recently had a health emergency on Sunday, November 24. Jakes was speaking at the Dallas-based The Potter's House Church when he stopped in between and started shaking involuntarily. People present at the spot immediately rushed to help him.
Meanwhile, T.D.'s daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts shared an update about her father's health through an Instagram video on November 25, 2024. Sarah was accompanied by her husband Touré Roberts in the clip as she started by saying:
"Hey family. I know today's been an interesting day for us. But we didn't want to lay down without giving you all an update about how everything is going with Bishop."
Sarah thanked everyone for their prayers and support when the news of T.D. Jakes' medical emergency went viral on different platforms. Touré then continued and stated:
"Yeah we felt those prayers. Obviously today could have been a tragic day. But it wasn't by the mercy of God, by the grace of God. Bishop is doing well. He's recovering well. He's under medical care. He's strong. We're trying to get him to sit down. He's the strong Bishop that we know."
Sarah also mentioned:
"I'm so grateful that he's already beginning to improve and I think it's just a reminder even going into this holiday season week to love on the people who you hold near and dear and just take the time to be grateful for all the people God's given you."
T.D. Jakes became silent as he was speaking on the microphone
As mentioned, the South Charleston, West Virginia native suffered a health emergency at The Potter's House Church on November 24, 2024. Notably, a video of the incident also went viral on different platforms.
The church also confirmed the same in a statement posted through X the following day, saying that T.D. Jakes immediately received medical help. Fox News stated that the 67-year-old suddenly paused his speech and started staring at one spot before people ran to help him on stage.
Also known as Thomas Dexter Jakes, he told everyone that he never gets tries of preaching and elaborated the same by saying:
"Have you ever gone to a hospital to visit somebody and you thought it was going to encourage them, and they encourage you? That's what preaching is like. You think you're giving out something, you're getting back more than you gave."
Addressing Psalm 19:14, moments before he fell silent, he said:
"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace."
According to Page Six, T.D. Jakes' speech was streaming live and was stopped in between while an anonymous person in the background requested everyone to pray. Although his daughter has already posted an update regarding his current condition through social media, his representatives have yet to reveal more details.
