Recently, discussions of two significant executive orders by former President Donald Trump—Executive Orders 13773 and 13903—have surfaced in political and public discourse amid rapper Sean Diddy Combs' arrest.
On September 16, 2024, Sean Diddy Combs was arrested at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan, New York. At the time of writing, the specific charges against the hip-hop mogul remain unclear. However, due to previous allegations around his purported involvement in human trafficking and drug-related activities, there is speculation that his arrest may be connected to those matters.
Supporters of the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement have expressed satisfaction, attributing his arrest to the continued effectiveness of the former President's executive orders, which they believe contributed to this legal action.
Executive Order 13773, signed by Trump in 2017, is aimed at combating organized crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, and other illegal activities carried out by transnational criminal organizations.
Executive Order 13903 was signed by the former President of the United States in 2020 to strengthen efforts to combat human trafficking, including child exploitation.
Understanding Trump's Executive Orders 13773 and 13903
Executive Order 13773
Executive Order 13773, which Donald Trump issued on February 9, 2017, was titled "Enforcing Federal Law With Respect to Transnational Criminal Organizations and Preventing International Trafficking."
As per the Presidency, this law served the purpose of highlighting the dangers posed by transnational criminal organizations, including drug cartels, which threaten the safety of the United States. As per the law, these groups engage in violent and illegal activities such as murder, r*pe, drug trafficking, and human smuggling, contributing to rising crime, corruption, and misery.
Key aspects of Executive Order 13773 are strengthening law enforcement collaboration to target organized crime, prioritizing the disruption of these criminal enterprises, and dismantling transnational criminal organizations.
Executive Order 13903
Executive Order 13903 was signed on January 13, 2020, by the former President, titled "Combating Human Trafficking and Online Child Exploitation in the United States."
As per the Presidency, this law outlines the U.S. government's policy to combat human trafficking, which is described as modern slavery. Moreover, this law commits the federal government to focus on prosecuting offenders, protecting victims, and providing education, to prevent human trafficking and online child exploitation.
The key aspects of Executive Order 13903 are to expand resources for law enforcement to identify, investigate, and prosecute trafficking cases, create a position within the White House to oversee anti-trafficking, and combat human trafficking and child exploitation among federal agencies.
MAGA fans praise Trump's Executive Orders amid Diddy's arrest
On Monday, September 16, rapper Sean Diddy Combs got arrested, and as per the US attorney for the Southern District of New York, Damian Williams, Diddy was arrested "based on a sealed indictment."
"We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time," Williams added.
Since news of Diddy's arrest broke online, supporters of the MAGA movement have taken to X to praise Donald Trump for his executive orders aimed at combating human trafficking, which have been linked by some to Combs' alleged involvement in such activities, according to reports from NBC News.
"Thank you, Mr. President Trump! Executive Order 13773 and EO 13903 still working!" one user wrote.
"Thank you @realDonaldTrump for Executive Order 13773 and EO 13903!" another user noted on X.
"Sean "Diddy" Combs has been ARRESTED by the FBI, human trafficking investigation! Thank you Mr. President Trump!" a netizen commented on X.
Diddy's arrest came after multiple lawsuits against the music mogul, including physical and s*xual abuse, from his former partner Cassie Ventura. In addition to the lawsuit, a CCTV clip from 2016 was released by CNN in May 2024, which showed Combs allegedly assaulting Cassie in a hotel corridor.
Later, in a since-deleted Instagram post, Diddy acknowledged the video and apologized to Cassie. However, his attorney told CBS that he was innocent and would present himself in court.
The relationship between Diddy's arrest and the former President's executive orders remains speculative. While Executive Orders 13773 and 13903 were pivotal during Donald's administration in addressing serious issues like human trafficking and organized crime, there is no current evidence to substantiate claims that these orders played a direct role in the recent events.
